Default Awesome iphone video - we are young

This must have taken forever to get right...

"The ball ain't heavy."

-Herschel Walker, when asked if he got tired carrying the ball 30 times per game.

Where did you get that? Nothing I've read about that song mentions "beating his girlfriend". Reviews I've read were very positive. I guess Chevy thinks a song about beating a girlfriend will sell cars???

Lyrics don't matter nearly as much as the tune. Ford used Band of Horse's "Funeral" for a commercial. Not exactly what you want to associate with a motor vehicle. Toyota or someone used Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" for a commercial. Again, the lyrics aren't what you want associated with the product and yet they used it.

As for We Are Young:

It does mention that he beat her...Lyrics:

My seat’s been taken by some sunglasses
asking bout a scar and I know I gave it to you months ago
I know you’re trying to forget
But between the drinks and subtle things
The holes in my apologies,

Sorry, that doesn't cut it. Why would Glee sing that song if it's about a guy beating his girlfriend? That lyric can mean many different things. I've looked over the Internet and there are dozens of "meanings" to that song.

Emotional scar, most likely.

First one I read wanted to avoid considering that it's him beating her as well when he gets high later with his friends. Considering the overriding theme of violence of the official video, it's particularly easy to draw a line that the person speaking in the lyrics does indeed beat her and love her in some twisted fashion.

He also talks about setting the world on fire. He must be an arson too.

I will say that it isn't so much about beating her but trying to atone for it

It is not the waitress's fault!

"I gave it to you months ago"

"Let's set the world on fire"

Not so subtle difference

That said, the guy could be asking her if she's got a boyfriend thereby asking about the emotional scar. Given the video though, i tend to believe he's speaking of physical violence.

because they sing anything that is popular

they sing songs about becoming a lesbian
(No, I don't even know your name, it doesn't matter.
You're my experimental game, just human nature.
It's not what good girls do, not how they should behave.
My head gets so confused, hard to obey.)

sex
(Let me take off all your clothes
Disconnect the phone so nobody knows, yeah
Let me light a candle so we can make it better
Makin' love until we drown, dig)

revenge on a cheater
(I bust the windows out your car
And no it didn't mend my broken heart
I'll probably always have these ugly scars
But right now I don't care about that part
I bust the windows out your car
After I saw you laying next to her
I didn't wanna but I took my turn
I'm glad I did it cuz you had to learn)

thong song

like a virgin

and many more and that was just season one

It is not the waitress's fault!

What'd he do? Cut her? No, it's emotional scars. He cheated on her. Was an *** to her. Something. Some people think based on the video that he took her virginity in a one night stand or something.

yes because guys always go up to girls in bars and ask about their "emotional" scars

Guys don't go up and ask about physical scars either. But recent past relationships, particularly bad ones, surely do come up in conversation in bars quite often.
