Default Players May Be Forced To Wear Correct Gear

The owners are considering forcing the players to wear the proper equipment on the field.
I also like the proposal to allow teams to activate one player from the IR list during the season...

"Vanity" is not a valid excuse to not wearing the proper PPE.

And the new Nike stuff is as comfortable as it gets. I wear Pro Combat gear for flag football. Other than reaching down and touching it, it's like nothing is there.

Some NFL players have resisted wearing a complete set of pads for reasons ranging from comfort to vanity.
That's not entirely true, a lot of receivers and DBs don't wear them because they claim that knee and thigh pads hinder their performance.

The new Nike stuff is designed to be virtually weightless.

I wonder if more guys will wear it. It does have that weird waffle honeycomb look to it though.

Well, if they all have to wear them than there will be no advantage for DBs or WRs.

exactly the point; no one will have an advantage.

The mindset of players will be one of the factors that will in the end defeat all those lawsuits that are being brought about concussions.

It will be very easy to show hundreds of instances where players deliberately did not tie chinstraps, wore helmets too loose, etc. And then fought any attempt to change.

Blaming the NFL will look more like just a money grab and nothing else

Truthfully, you are REQUIRED to wear all of your equipment all the way through college, I have a feeling the difference in wearing thigh/knee pads can't be THAT substantial. You've worn those pads your entire life, what's the big deal about wearing them now?

Jerry Rice and Deion wore them, why can't current players?

Countless players have sued the NFL over safety issues. Now that the NFL is mandating all proper protective gear be worn, we see current players complain about that? Sorry players, you can't have it both ways.

Trent Dilfer: "Tony [Romo] has greatness in him. I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”

It's fascism, is what it is... just like motorcycle helmet laws...

Why does the Man always think he can make me be safe?? If I wanna smoke unfiltered Camels, drink a fifth of Jack Daniels a night, have unprotected sex and eat pork (preferably at the same time), it's my bidness...

Not when they are the ones paying you multi-million dollar contracts....If they get hurt playing football, because they didn't have the correct gear on, they still have to pay that player the rest of the year. If some of those injuries can be prevented from forcing the players to wear the correct gear, they have the right to do so.

The excuse that wearing ALL of the correct gear is uncomfortable is B.S.
