Default Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 Update Arriving May 22?

Maybe. Damn I hope so. I want this 3G->4G slow *** switching **** fixed.

=====================================

Could this be the week? According to a handful of readers who either called into Verizon support within the last few days or entered a store looking for help, the Galaxy Nexus is scheduled to receive Android 4.0.4 tomorrow, May 22. One of our readers said that a VZW employee went as far as to show him her screen which mentioned the date specifically.

Haven't really noticed any problems with 3G -> 4G since I've only been on 4G a handful of times. Been on 4.0.4 for a month or so now.

Just curious, why don't you load a custom ROM?

It literally takes a few minutes. You can backup everything and restore to your personal settings.

Look for WugFresh's tool for a one click unlock and root app.

Most of the major custom ROM makers have integrated 4.0.4. The leaked radios have been out for a while as well.

Well, I probably could. I know you can't use Google Play to watch movies if you do, but then again. I'm not going to rent any movies to watch on my phone so it shouldn't matter anyhow.

Hmmm...

Never heard about the Google Play issue.

I would never rent a movie anyway. Rather rip and encode offline.

xda-developers and rootzwiki are good sights for the latest and greatest android developments.

Really like my current ROM: LiquidICS. Very light weight and low resource usage.

Haven't had a single reboot in weeks.

Curious - have you ever noticed a reboot running stock? What about an activation screen randomly asking you to enter your google credentials again?

I wasn't stock for very long, but it seems people running stock encountered these problems as well.

Yes.

When you unlock and root your phone it allows you the ability to run a custom ROM.

Nothing really changes.

If you go the ROM route I suggest following this guide:

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/15...ghts-and-more/

Pretty much teaches you everything you need to do.

If you feel like being a nerd and want to do it the hard way i.e. using command line then it can be a little more involved.

But, fast and easy method:

1) Use WugFresh's tool to unlock and root.
2) Use a launcher like Nova etc so that you can backup your homescreen settings etc.
3) You can use Titanium backup to save app data i.e. saved games etc.

Always make a complete backup before you flash a new ROM!

My phone has only rebooted on it's own twice that I can remember. First was about 3 days after I got it. The last time was a couple of weeks ago about 5 minutes after getting off a plane and disabling Airplane Mode. Other than those two times, I haven't had that issue.
