I would start him at DE, not OLB.

I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”

Yes he did have an injury but I think he might have gotten benched before the injury and had trouble getting his spot back... whatever the situation, I do know that he did lose his spot - I remember cause there were a bunch a articles in the NY papers on how unhappy he was and might want to be traded.

playing the run would be of some concern; but those worrying about coverage? Come on people. That is NOT important.

I disagree there is a reason most OLB have quickness and agility not only in rushing the passer but taking the TE or back swinging outside. If it did not matter both OLB would rush every play but they don't

Sorry but I disagree - he's playing the strong side its one of his responsibilities.
BTW isn't it one of the reasons that Brookings was let go from Atlanta....he lost a step and was now a liability in coverage.

I will also have to disagree. Spencer spends a significant amount of his time in coverage, among other duties, which, come to think of it, probably explains why his sack totals aren't what we'd like to see from him.

That's certainly part of it.
But I also think some of it is that Spencer doesn't have quite the explosion rushing the passer out of a stand-up position as he would in a 3-point stance.
Many guys don't. That's the problem with trying to project a 4-3 DE as a 3-4 OLB AND it could be a problem that could affect Osi also.
To assume that his (Osi's) pass rush ability is going to be the same as a stand-up 3-4 OLB isn't realistic.

Run stopping? Once again not that important anymore.

I don't know if I'd take him as Spencer's replacement, but I'd sure take him and find a way to use him for added pressure on the QB.

Not interested.
Aging, bad fit, too pricey.

its more of Anthony Spencer underachieving and the fan response is purely a reaction of that reality.
