Even if Church wins the job now, which I doubt... I think Matt Johnson eventually takes it.

I don't think Church is going to win it, not with a vet like Pool on the roster. Johnson is a complete wild card, I haven't seen him play a down of NFL ball yet.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Has there ever been a pro bowl or HOF type Safety with Church's speed? Serious question

Yeah, back when the helmets were leather.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

I think Nagy has a little more upside. I think he can gain a little more weight and get a little stronger. Church will never be fast enough, or quick enough to be a good safety IMO.
Head...or...gut?

I'm not totally sold on Kam Chancellor... Yet.

Default What are your thoughts on Barry Church?

Jerome Henderson seems to like him:

Quote:
"When you watch him on tape, he just jumps out at you," Henderson said of the 6-2, 220-pound Church. "You say, 'Wow, we've got to find ways to play this guy more.' He just shows up making plays. All the time. Always around the ball. You look at that, you say you want to give him more opportunities. Now he's getting his opportunities. We'll see how it plays out."

Admittedly, I haven't seen enough Cowboy games last year to form an opinion on him. I'm curious to see what other Zoners think.

I'm not the one generalizing here.

The idea that .1 sec in the 40 is the difference between his being good or not just strikes me as short changing a guy that the team seems to love.

Sometimes that .1 sec in the 40 is the difference that separates a starter from a backup.

This is probably going to be the season in which Church is going to have establish himself as a starter.

He has Ken Hamlin potential.

Sorry. Couldn't resist taking a shot at theo.

This post wasn't alcohol induced.

Jerry Jones: "I don't know when I've ever seen a player impress our staff without having played in a ball game any more than Matt Johnson."

I agree, sometimes it does. Most of the time though, it means very little. I also agree that this is the year he'd have to do it, if he's going to do it. But even if he doesn't, there's still a role for him on the team.

Not sure what Costa has to do with this, but whatever.
Through proper training and diet he could absolutely improve his explosion and speed.

The kid came from Toledo. He won't ever be a 4.3 type guy but saying that work ethic can't improve your speed/explosion is pretty ignorant.
