Matt Johnson has the most potential to make us consistent, but Pool stands the best chance this year, imo.

I've been CZ awol for a bit; I wasn't aware of this. But I'll keep an eye on it.

Me too.

I've been hitching my train to the Barry "I just make plays" Church train for a while now. Just how I roll.

Church is less of a known commodity. He has more upside, but I just don’t think the scouting department and coaching staff are that far off. At best, he may be a pretty good and underrated starter. Johnson is the most unknown and it’s not too uncommon for great safeties to be drafted where he was. Plus, he’s younger.

YR
Of course!

As you say, Pool is a known commodity. We can only hope that he remains competent. Church does have some upside, but, let's face it, he's not All Pro material.

But, Johnson is an empty slate on which we can write just about anything we wish. So why wouldn't a fan root for Johnson? He may well disappoint, as many others have. But for now, he is our hope for the future at that position.

This is the time for hope for fans of each and every team in the NFL. Johnson represents a good part of that hope for me.

Amen to that brother. I've never been one to ever agree with the "veteran automatic starter" mentality in the NFL and a rookie shouldn't start because he has no pro experience. The starter should be the player who is the best in practice, mini camp and eventually preseason. Matt Johnson lining up on receivers sounds amazing to me seeing that the Cowboys face a pass happy schedule this year and especially with teams taking after the Patriots offensive model of the slot receiver mismatch with a player like Welker or their goon TEs that safeties are either too slow or too small to cover.
Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.

How bout them Cowboys?

Ryan's scheme uses them almost interchangeably. Hell, he had safeties playing Nickel LB last year.

AOA or Justin Bereault... Oh wait, that was previous years. I guess I will be rooting for another rookie safety that we drafted.

I remember Vs the Titans, i thought we found the next best thing.....then all it took was 1 burn..

and he lost all the confidence

I blame parcells......Instead of encouraging him after he got burned vs the eagles, he gave him the death stare.....

Can't wait to see a more creative and blitz-happy D.

Gimme Johnson. I think he has all the tools to be the guy. And after watching what videos I could find of him on the net, I think all he needs is a little time. He's actually the guy I'm rooting for the most in camp.

Yeah, cause he tore it up once he left the Parcells regime.
