Bennett: Eli The Best QB In The League
Didn't see this posted earlier. It should get some attention here, I'd imagine. I wonder how great a guy Eli will be according to Martellus when he's a street free agent, sitting on his couch in his house on Jupiter sometime during the next 12 months?

"I don't think there's a better quarterback than (Manning) in the NFL right now," Bennett told The Star-Ledger. "Watching his approach to the game and the way he coaches everybody up and gets everybody involved, I think he's an unselfish quarterback, which is what you want. He throws a very catchable ball, which is always awesome. He's a great guy, a great quarterback."...
"I mean, he's just looking for the open guy," Bennett said. "It doesn't matter who it is or what number you are. If you're open, he's going to hit you. You have to be ready. That's what makes it so fun playing in this offense because anytime you beat your guy, you know you could get the ball."

When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

The bold comment is funny because that's exactly how Romo plays.
Bennett just alley ooped the ball into Asomugha's hands.

I don't see a shot or mention of Romo in that quote.

I would expect him to say that about HIS QB with TWO rings. I don't believe Romo was the reason he couldn't catch th ball when it was thrown to him. Plus he was immature. He may play lights out but if he drops balls, Eli will throw to somebody else as well.

Why is Bennett even qualified to be commenting at this point. He reported to the OTAs overweight and out of shape.
If that is his approach to NFL football, he isn't long for the game. The fact his vomment (I decided to let my typo stand) made it to a Cowboys forum is surprising enough.

How about "I've been lucky to play with some pretty good QBs in this league. Eli's a great guy, and he makes a point of getting the ball to you if you can get open, that's all you can ask for...."
There are a dozen ways to comment on your new QB without drawing direct comparisons to other players. Watch how Jason Garret handles the constant player-comparison questions he gets in press conferences sometimes. He never throws a player under the bus, directly, or by implication. Bennett's making a point of doing it here.

I don't think Bennett is wise enough to know how to frame his comments. I don't think he necessarily was trying to throw Romo under the bus, directly, or by implication. He's just another one of those guys who would be a lot better off never speaking publicly.
"'Room' always makes me chuckle. That's irrelevant. What we have on a given day really doesn't relate to what you're ultimately going to have and how you're going to manage."

I agree. Though he ought to be wise enough at this point to know what topics to keep his mouth shut about if nothing else.
It's hard to gauge how passive/aggressive he might be being from the text, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. But if you wanted to read between the lines that he thought his old QB played favorites, it's really not that much of a stretch.
Plus, it's ridiculous to say with a straight face that Eli Manning is the best QB in the league. Even if he is on your team and he is the one throwing you passes. Somewhere along the line it oughta cross your mind to keep the commentary believable.

Eh I see nothing to be upset about with this to be quite honest. Of course he's going to think his QB is the best in the league. It's his QB.
This is nothing to be quite honest.
