I'll tell you what, though. Stats don't tell the story when it comes to winners, and thanks to video, the bar gets no lower with time.
Great comeback and wonderful game.
The thing here is that while Roger gets the credit of being a winner for a game like this, as he absolutely was, you'll notice something very important here.
2 HUGE stops in crunch time by getting a turnover and then getting the Redskins out on 3rd and 2 with about 2 minutes to go.
A game like this one reminds me of the final game at Texas Stadium where Romo was trashed for the loss.
The only thing is that Romo lead the offense down the field for two scoring drives, very similiar fashion as in the video you posted here, to get the Cowboys back in the game and give them a chance to win only for his defense to do the exact opposite of what Rogers did.
Where Rogers D got two big, crucial, stops the defense Romo got to play with went out and closed Texas Stadium down by allowing back to back 80+ yard TD runs when the game was on the line.
Winners and heros are created by team efforts. Just like Superbowl champions are.
As for the OP question I truly believe it's 2.
With his stats and what all else he's been able to accomplish having 2 Superbowl rings definately makes a very strong case for him being that top guy.
That gives him just as many as Roger and places him only 1 behind Troy.
I get the argument that it has to be 3 but this nonsense that it has to be 4 is beyond silly.
The thing with Troy getting 3 is that he played on such a super talented team. Probably the most talented that Dallas has ever had. Now that's not Troy's fault, it's a blessing for him, and certainly not meant to diminish how important a piece he was to that success. He definately was but he did have a whole lot to work with, IMO.
I know plenty of people probably put Troy #1 right now because of the 3. I don't. Roger still is the best Dallas QB ever, IMO. Very likely if Romo were to win 2 Superbowls I'd still place Roger above him but I certainly wouldn't have any trouble, just like with Troy, making the argument that Romo is the best ever in Dallas.
Anyway I think the number is 2.
