Hybrid started getting popular with the influx of 3-4 defenses in recent years. A guy is a decent pass rushing DE in college but is on the smaller side. Draft him with the intent to have him learn to play OLB in a 3-4. This is typically the context I hear the hybrid moniker used in the most.
