Default Neil Armstrong passed

RIP frist man on the moon. he was 82

http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/nei...0#.UDkneUR26Uc

Neil Armstrong, the astronaut who became first to walk on the moon as commander of Apollo 11, has died. He was 82 years old.
He was born in the small town of Wapakoneta, Ohio, on Aug. 5, 1930.
On July 20, 1969, half a billion people -- a sixth of the world's population at the time -- watched a ghostly black-and-white television image as Armstrong backed down the ladder of the lunar landing ship Eagle, planted his left foot on the moon's surface, and said, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

Well, damn.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

RIP Rocket Man!

I remember watching him walk on the moon as a kid. What an amazing thing to see.

If you remember where you were during the moon walk, let us know.
I was in a womens dorm lobby, waiting to pick up my date, and watched it on their small tv. Estill dorm, Sam Houston State campus.

I was sitting on my mom's living room floor right in front of the TV set. I was 6 and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

It's sad to see pioneers like this go. That generation had so many...

I was the desk clerk at the Provost Marshall's office at Camp Pendleton CA. We had a small black and white TV to see it.

Sad when the great ones pass. We watched the landing in our living room with a lot of family present. My grandpa refused to believe it was real. He died in 1972 and I don't think he ever did believe it actually happened.
