NBA finalizing flopping procedures
About time.

NBA finalizing flopping procedures
ELIZABETH, N.J. -- The NBA is about to act in hopes of stopping the floppers.
Spokesman Tim Frank said Thursday the league is finalizing procedures to deal with flopping, the art of falling down when little or no contact was made in an effort to trick referees into calling a foul.
Frank said the competition committee met two weeks ago and discussed plans that would go in place this season. Commissioner David Stern believes too many players are deceiving referees by flopping and has been seeking a way to properly penalize them.
The procedures likely will involve a postgame review of the play by the league office, rather than an official calling an infraction during the game, Frank said.
Players likely would be fined if the league determined they flopped.

Jerry Jones in the draft room is suicide on the football field. The line of scrimmage is EVERYTHING. Something Jerry doesn't understand.

This will invalidate Vlade Divac's entire career...
He has to the NBA's all-time leading flopper by a wide margin...

If you watch the video, they call out Wade and LeBron for doing it.

That all sounds great but couldn't they come up with a better term than flopping?
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

How about they just ignore it and keep playing? Stop calling the fouls and they will stop flopping......or just punch them in the nads.

I hope they dont just go after defensive floppers...the new rules better penalize offensive floppers as well.
I have no issue with flopping, especially since the NBA has gone out of its way to make it basically impossible to play defense anymore. Offensive players shoot so many free throws for little or no contact, even when it has no bearing whatsoever on the gameplay....it is disgusting.
For those of you who want to call out the current players like Ginobili, Paul, Lebron, etc.....just know that players like Doc Rivers, Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, and John Stockton were flopping in the 80s. Divac and the Kings popularized it in the 90s and 00s. Ironically one of the biggest floppers of the last decade seems to have been given a pass, Ben Wallace. For someone with his size and strength, he hit the floor on a regular basis, even when hit by the smallest of players.....and he won all those DPOY awards.....ridiculous.
