How will they know? Seems like the all of the gauges are fixed to the pod. Either way, I pray everything works out as planned.

I'm sure they have calculated the rate of descent and could remotely trigger the parachute if he were to have a problem. Just a guess on my part though.

The first part of what you said seems plausible. As silly as this might sound--I wonder if he could aim his breath away from the visor. As simple as that sounds, that might actually work.
