Interesting that you say that, cause similar could be said about Church. Was he just good for a game or two before he got exposed this year, or was he the real deal.
The difference is we will find out if Costa is trash or did he make a difference cause he will play again this year. Personally, I've never been a Costa fan, but when you look at the total picture of our rushing offense, its really just too hard to ignore. Funny thing is Murray could be back by the time Costa is back (if the team hasn't quit by then), so even if Costa makes a difference most will say its cause of Murray.
You still have to look at whats the difference from last year when it wasn't as much of a problem. Common sense should tell you the answer.

Imagine what would happen if you put a Drew Bledsoe type behind this OL. It would be criminal. Romo is running for his life from pressure right up the middle most plays let alone the edge. The current right side of the line is horrible.
If Red were a more flexible offensive genius, he just start calling roll outs every play and make it easier on everyone.

Can one guy as average as Costa make 'the worst OL since Jimmy' that much better......or is it that your just overstating your opinion time and time again. Last year, we were pretty middle of the road when it came to rushing offense, now we are amongst the worse in the league. Excluding the tackles cause they are the same like the RBs, Livings and Berny are just as good as Holland and Kosier were last year respectively, the main difference is Costa (being hurt) and Cook.
How hard is it to make a leap and think......hey ding ding ding.....there might be something to that.

NGATA sprained his MCL early in the game
So your claim that Costa was the difference is at least suspect
And considering who was running all over the Ravens D why does that make Costa good?

Says the guy who built the offensive line.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Jerry is right and the stats prove him right. Romo's hasn't needed to be a elusive so far because the oline has pass protected well outside of maybe Seattle and Tampa.
You want to see bad olines...watch the Iggles Sunday...oh wait they'll probably look like the great wall this week.

I couldn't agree more. We're going to stick with Costa thinking he's the answer and we'll be right back here next November talking about how bad he is.
This is because we don't have a talent evaluator in the building. Just an oil man and his son.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

So a lot of teams are wishing they ran the ball at less than four yards a clip good for 28th the league and are so one-dimensional their QB feels intense pressure to make plays instead of simply playing the game?

I just hope this isn't a sign that we aren't going to place a HUUUUGE emphasis on o-line in the offseason.

This group also doesn't see much blitz action because coordinators understand they can get pressure on Romo with just 4 guys, while dropping 7 guys and taking away the vertical passing game.
Means your QB has absolutely no running game, horrible pass protection, and is throwing the ball in incredibly tight windows. Makes your offense completely one dimensional, predictable, and ineffective particularly in the red/green zones where you need your line to convert short yardage and keep drives alive.

While I don't entirely agree with this post, I do in general. This is an excellent post. Short, to the point and accurate.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

Sorry Jerry but you're wrong.
This O-Line is trash. It only shows glimmers of not being trash in pass protection because Romo makes them look far better than they really are.
This line is absolutely terrible.

If you mean "huge" that the Cowboys replace 3 guys along the offensive line in one offseason-- then no, that isn't going to happen.
I could see a guard added to the mix... And maybe a tackle.
Center? All depends on Costa and how he finishes the season.
But I think you'll see next year's offensive line being:
Smith, Livings, Costa, ?, Free.

We're getting a corner to replace Mike Jenkins, a running back to replace Felix Jones and a WR to replace Dez (who is being fitted for a nice scapegoat 2012 t-shirt).

The whole, "Romo saves this offense line with his feet" is a two-way sword.
Yes, there have been many cases that he has.
BUT there are many times when he hangs them out to dry by holding on to the ball for too long.
