I believe that's true, but it's also a fact that football is an emotional game, so if the emotion is not coming from the coach it has to come from the players and what I saw yesterday made me sick.
He made two critical mistakes inside of a minute in a season deciding game against a divisional rival and what do the other defensive players do...
...the patted him on the head and gave him support -- when in my opinion somebody should have lit him up. I wanted to see a shouting match and I wanted Hatcher to be part of it, because he would have had no defense against another player going off on him.

But mental errors cannot be tolerated. Somebody needs to send a message and if the coaches aren't willing to do it and the players aren't willing to do it what are you left with?
Darren Woodsen where have you gone?

You mean Tony Romo didn't chew him out on the field?

I would have been much happier to see him get pulled off the field for one series.

Different players react in totally different ways to harsh and public criticism.
You played sports, so I know you have to realize this.
For all we know, he catches holy hell in the film room for that stuff.
No doubt though, there is a big diff. between mental and physical errors.

That is why we have a roster full of players who accept being mediocre, fail to finish games, hang their heads, fail to succeed, etc. They are accountable to Mr. Jones only and he is just a fan who happens to own the team and put himself in charge. They don't need pep talks or hugs, they need their ***** chewed out.

wow, are you serious with this stuff?
what had that team accomplished in the last 2 years before that play?
what had leon let contributed to the team by that time?
when u are a great team, people will overlook the occasional indiscretion
when you arer a mediocre team that lacks discipline and is second in the league in penalties, someone needs to take control cause it sure aint the HC
way to compare apples to oranges

Why would anyone on this team worry about screwing up when all you ever get is don't worry about it, its ok. They are not 6 year olds who are gonna have their little feelings hurt. You can chew his butt out the right way and all will be good.

Have you ever played a team sport before? I hope not, if hate to be on your team. That is not the time to get on a guy.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

That mistake wasnt for lack of discipline, it was lack of knowledge of the rules.

I can only speak for my past past, but when I was playing I chewed out several teammates for making stupid mistakes. I was team captain and I acted as a coach on the field. It works, but I made sure that I didn't make the same mistakes. When a player knows that he has to answer to his teammates, it keeps him on his toes. If a guy had a problem with me getting on him, the team put him in his place at practice. I don't believe that a pat on the back gets the same results.

When you want to win a game, you have to teach. When you lose a game, you have to learn.

What stupid coaches we must have had back then, letting players on field when they didn't know the rules

Jimmy Johnson consoling Leon Lett Thanksgiving Day long long ago in a stadium now pretty far away.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.
