Haden may not play on Sunday

Browns starting cornerback Joe Haden was sidelined during practice today with an injured oblique muscle.


Haden suffered the injury Wednesday during practice. He sat out Thursday and today.

Yeah, saw this on NFL AM this morning. If he doesn't play, the Browns will be without their two starting corners, and yeah, Dez will be salivating....

Losing Haden will be huge for Cleveland. He's one of those guys that when his rookie contract is up and he gets paid something like Brandon Carr just did, a lot of people are going to say "Who the **** is that guy? What? Why is he getting that money?" because he's a dang good player with crap around him.

He struggles some against he bigger WRs but he is an elite CB. Probably top 5 at the position.

How many times have we had an opponent who has a star injured and we can never take advantage of it?

Doen't matter if he plays or not. Either his backup will play like an All-Pro or Garrett will decline to take advantage of the situation with his playcalling.

A healthy Joe Haden would be the best CB on the field this week.
So yes, losing him would be brutal for Cleveland.

It's Revis, and then mostly likely, Haden, in the NFL CB pecking order.

The Browns will make a game-time decision about whether starting cornerback Joe Haden will play Sunday when they visit the Dallas Cowboys, coach Pat Shurmur said this afternoon following practice.

Haden missed practice today and Thursday after injuring an oblique muscle Wednesday. Haden was not hurt because of contact, Shurmur said.

“He’ll be a game-time decision,” Shurmur said, adding Haden will travel with the team to Dallas. “I think we listed it as an oblique strain. It’s something that can happen with a very harmless movement, and we’ll just see where he’s at. He feels better today, and on game day, we’ll decide if he can go.”

If Haden doesn't play when the Browns (2-7) face the Cowboys (4-5), the defense will be extremely thin at cornerback. Sheldon Brown and Buster Skrine would start, and rookie Trevin Wade, a seventh-round draft pick, would cover the slot receiver in the nickel package.

Undrafted rookie Johnson Bademosi is the only other healthy cornerback on the roster. He has played special teams, not defense, this season.

“He’ll be available as a corner for sure, and he’s had a good week of practice,” Shurmur said. “He’s another one of those guys that’s developed. He’ll continue to develop. He just hasn’t had the on-the-field reps that Trevin’s had.”

Where have I heard this before? Probably means they'll completely shut down our passing attack.
