But then Adam hit me with Kevin Kolb.

I got nothing.

Rodgers was sacked 8 times in Seattle and didn't throw an interception. Difference was he didn't get the victory due to the replacement ref fiasco.

That was a boneheaded turnover. Strangely, the next drive he should have turned it over after Parnell got beat and thankfully hung on. The O-Line is bad and I would expect Romo to not make those mistakes, but it's going to hurt a QB's confidence if he can't get help from the O-Line. Free was absolutely pathetic today.

Don't look now, but I think Romo has gone about 120 attempts without a pick.

Reverting to the historical mean. Would love to see him crawl all the back out of that early hole and have > 2-1 TD-int ratio. That would mean the Cowboys would have to be doing well the rest of the way barring maybe one bad game.
I know, wishful thinking.

How do you tell your QB, who has to run away from pressure 80% of the time , to take a sack when being chased or pressured?

Romo would be sacked 25 times a game. He was sacked 7 times running around all day.

You guys do know that even though our Oline was awful today that the coach can do something about that to relieve them of that pressure right? Romo has been running around not only in todays game, but throughout the entire season.

Yes, Garrett adjust during halftime. But why in the world didn't we start out the season like that? Why not call plays that can compensate for the lack of protection on Romo?

I feel we need a new offensive philosophy - one that utilizes Romo's scrambling ability and an up tempo offense. Garrett's philosophy is whats hurting us.

Agreed. Tony is one of the all-time greats at evading oncoming rushers. As a matter of fact, that's the ONLY elite skill he has. It would be foolish to take that away from him.

The blindsided strip-fumble was boneheaded? Or am I thinking of a different play?
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

I doubt that's happened very often in league history.
You say that like it's an unquestionable good. Is it? Or does it mean you're playing it too safe and taking too few chances?

Yeah, I think Romo was playing it safe today. Sitting back there, holding onto the ball, not taking any chances while the Dline strolled around trying to pull the flag out of the back of his pants.

That was no flag the Browns were trying to pull out, it was his spleen. Romo was hit on almost every single snap.

We played hot and cold overall. Romo played bad the first half and gave up a stupid fumble that nearly cost the game. Defense played good most of the 2nd half but weren't ready on a pass play that nearly cost the game. We got damn lucky to win playing as stupid as we did late in the 4th quarter.

Tony played out of his mind today (again) and carried the team. Can't imagine my Cowboys without him.
I agree it was a solid game, but I doubt it was anywhere close to "out of his mind". I'm rarely too critical of Romo (even when I really could/should be), but he had several bonehead plays that stood out to me. I'm gonna hedge and say I'm not sure it's ALL on him for this first point, but generally speaking he takes way too long getting plays off, often resulting in a delay penalty. This may be partly due to teh sidelines, but Romo monkey humps around too much for my tastes. Secondly, he STILL is a mediocre game manager: I'm speaking strictly toward his holding the ball too long, taking sacks, getting stripped of the ball, forcing throws (which has lessened of late, but still...). I think these things mount up to costing yards/games and they do so on a consistent basis. No, I'm not calling for him to be cut, benched or otherwise...just calling it like I see it...way short of "playing out of his mind".

I don't mean it badly, exactly. He was good within the design of the seemingly risk-free offense that we are playing right now. I'm just not sure it's a formula for success in the long run.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
