It's one of those things, we won the game so it doesn't seem so bad, if we didn't I'd feel different. But heres the rub, seven sacks, let the D ice the game.

This is a worse comparison than your OP. Manning!!
Come on, we were near mid field and threw the ball on 3rd and long to attempt to ice it. That was as obvious a call as today's.

Exactly. Night and day difference between the two scenarios.

Garrett is always criticized. The trick is to be able to sift through the rubbish and find the criticisms that are valid. Some are. This one clearly, is not.

I guess we should have just took 3 knees to avoid our backup RB....playing behind our backup OL....from fumbling the ball?

There is a risk in every play you call, in this case Garrett took the risk of playing to punt from the 1 and it backfired. If you think about it, maybe a safety or a quick Defensive TD would've been better than what actually happened.

We have a winner. Your best post of all time. Congratulations.

There certainly are fair, constructive criticisms to be had about Garrett. But when people overreach, like here, they don't help their cause. In another thread a poster actually put the Romo fumble on Garrett. Such extremes.

I thought about an intentional safety there, but the lead was only four points, so if you take the safety a FG beats you and Len Dawson has a big leg.

I didn't like the calls. We needed to try at least one pass.

We didn't have the benefit of hindsight. We didn't know the punter was going to crap the bed. We didn't know the D was going to give up a TD and make it look easy.

The articles were already being written about "the end of an era" But we somehow pulled this game out. You simply HAVE to try to win the game...not hope and pray that the clock runs out. I am sure Rob Ryan is standing on the sidelines thinking "how many times today do we have to win the game for you"? I was disgusted

after the romo fumble on the previous possession when the defense all but wraps up the game and then makes the goal line stand i did not want to see a single pass attmept. Without the special teams penalty i dont think cleveland would have scored.

Or you could play the odds and try to get the 1st down on the ground while knowing you have a top 5 defense and the opponent actually needs a TD. Its not a crazy thought when you look at it objectively.

i wouldnt go that far, but i can say that i was thinking run it 3 times and kick the fg for a 7 point lead right before romo fumbled.

I know and I agree, but when you punt from the one you have to expect something like that could happen, as a matter of fact, if we are talking about risk, I think the probability of that happening is higher than that of Tony throwing an int
