The real question is, how long are we going to put terrible players at the Safety position? It's been 3 straight season now of horrible play from both safety positions. How bad do they have to be before that changes?

idk we always seem to wait. I think we will go next year with sensy, church and maybe johnson battling it out at the safety positions.

Math makes a suggestion, I think it's time to switch back to a base 4-3, which we're in much of the time anyway.

Way to pull these stats out of your ear and draw the wrong conclusions. The Cowboys have only been playing the 3-4 since Parcells (and that happened mid way thru his tenure). 4-3 under Gailey and Campo reeked too.
The organization as a whole is to blame for that record, not the defensive scheme. Parcells, Wade and even Rob Ryan are proven. The 3-4 seems to be working just fine in Houston.

Conner on weakside would be fubar. He is just not fast enough to cover RBs. Connor is an average MLB only. Sims on the weakside makes more sense. He could be the fastest LB (maybe defensive player) on the team.

Might as well just run the 4-3 Flex just for old times sake. You can put Lee in White's old postion just for fun too.
Ryan pretty runs a 4-3 Weak regardless of who is labeled what. The RDE is really a RDT and Ware is the RDE. Thats why Rat does well, he isnt a 3-4 0 tech NT nor asked to play one.
For all the other fubar'd things with this team, the alignment of the D isnt one of them. Just pretend Ware is in a 3 point stance and you will feel better.

Turnovers is the name of the game. We barely force any turnovers. That is why we lost we gave up 3 turnovers and only got 1.
Lets do like patriots headcoach bill did and move back to the 4-3. We run alot of 4 man rushes anyways.
I would love the 3-4 but time and time again we seem to not force any turnovers. So lets scrap it and go back to the 4-3. We won superbowls with the 4-3.

yeah because this will help so much...

I'm not opposed to the 4-3, but saying we need to switch back to it "because we barely get any turnovers" or "because we won 3 super bowls with it" is hilarious.

Well when you rush 4 or fewer 76% of the time and blitz 24% of the time, you already running a fundamental 4-man line.
We may line up as a 3-4 team but we sure don't blitz like one.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

Watch tape. We play a ton of 4-3. This debate was meaningful several years ago.

maybe you should look at the tape. We don't play alot of 4-3. People see ware and spencer on the line thinking it is the 4-3 when we are really in our nickle and dime package. We run a ton of 3-4 but we only rush 4 most of the time. Thats still not a 4-3. I rather have spencer rushing the passer than say coleman or spears. Coleman and spears are just warm bodies in the passing game. Against run heavy teams we did use the 2-5 package which had 2 d-lineman and 5 linebackers (3 MLB's). But to say we run a ton of 4-3 is false.

The Packers won a bunch with the Packer sweep. That kind of logic is asinine. We have run EVERY flavor of the 3-4 and have failed. That is due to lack of talent and execution, not scheme.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I sometimes feel like I'm dealing with children on this site.
