Default Brees and Rodgers far from Gods

I know many on this board have been highly critical of Tony Romo and Jason Garrett. They have been critical about offensive results and interceptions over the course of this season. I've often thought that the major problem was the OL and have thought so since 2009. Today's games with Rodgers facing the Giants and Brees facing the 49ers shows how great QBs can be pressured into mistakes and not put up points when they don't get adequate protection. Nothing I saw from either of the games today was atypical for almost any Cowboys game this season.

No offense is going to accomplish much in the passing or running game if the OL lacks adequate talent. They don't have to be All-Pro although that does help. They do have to give the QB time to go through a couple reads and they do have to give enough time for the defense to have to respect the whole route tree instead of being able to aggressively jump the first move or overplay short routes. If you can't do it opposing DCs will make mincemeat of your gameplan no matter how effective it is.

Rodgers did it while playing under considerable duress but not quite as bad as Tony has faced this season.

No offense is going to be successful without adequate OL play.

Rodgers line was just as bad and Steelers Oline always blows.

They got rings. If Romo had them, nobody would care.

I disagree. I for one would completely have faith in him with one deep run and a ring. He will Never provide that for me as a fan. I grew up with winners like Staubach and Aikman, even White got close many times at least.

So did I and yea I agree. I meant nobody would care if he had a bad game if he would have won a ring. I like Romo but I don't think he's ever going to win a SB here. He's not John Elway who's going to win a title when he's 38.

They both have real HC and an OC who knows how to run a NFL offense.

Romo has a guy who likes stacking processes.

Only morons think QBs win and lose games on their own.

That is all.

Yet Romo put up big games against the Giants this year winning one relatively easily and losing the other one by a finger's breadth. Meanwhile Rodgers hasn't been able to muster anything outside of one big play to Nelson.

I'm not besmirching McCarthy, Rodgers or Brees. I am stating that unless the OL is improved to adequacy it is hard to judge the adequacy of a gameplan. Brees threw 2 pick sixes and often looked woefully inadequate today. Rodgers has been flustered and has jumpy feet right now.

The current GM has not put his HC in a position to be successful.

Jim Kelly - Accomplished one of the greatest things in NFL history, but he's forgotten. Went to 4 super bowls in a row. If you don't win or break all NFL records, you'll be forgotten.

Don't compare nobody's to super bowl winners please.

Who do you think will get remembered more? Dan Marino or Trent Dilfer?

Or Jason Garrett as their head coach and not adjusting to a bad oline.

Blah...blah...blah....so the 2007-2009 Oline was bad as well? They had how many Pro bowlers on that line? What was Romo's rating in the largest games during that era? I seem to remember some rather odorous stinkers in big games by the QB. Romo isn't a bad QB, but comparing Romo to Brees and Rodgers is kind of amusing since no one outside of our fanbase would ever put Romo in the same breath as those guys.
