Ravens are frauds, especially without Ray Lewis and Suggs healthy. But the Redskins are getting stronger, especially on offense.

Ravens are a good team with a lot of injuries (especially on defense) and the Redskins are on the move - period.

The MRI came back negative for any ligament tears. Just a bad sprain. IMO, I think he'll miss next week and possibly the Philly game.

+1
Pretty much the same reason why the Cowboys are struggling right now (although I think the Ravens are generally better than us). Injuries to players that are hard to replace.

Flacco has always been a bus driver and only talking heads ever thought he was more than a Bus driver including some on the form.

That 4th rounder on Cousins sure was a big waste...
I am looking forward to the package of picks Shanahan gets for him in 2 years

Boy that rhetoric has really died down, hasn't it? I like Cousins a lot, someone will overpay for him.

We may end up seeing him as a starter this Sunday against Cleveland. Considering the circumstances, I'd prefer it and let RG3 come back against Philly.

You guys would have been better off on both fronts with a veteran backup QB and an additional pick to use elsewhere in a roster with holes in it. I think the rhetoric still applies.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Here is my problem with that rhetoric: how many 4th rounders come in and start right away?
Look at the picks following Cousins. None of them really stand out. I really believe Cousins was BPA there.

Not many 4th rounders come in and start. But you'd be better off this week with a veteran backup in place, and then you'd still have that 4th in your back pocket where he can be developed. A year from now, that could be a starting OG or LB for you.
And Cousins might well have been the BPA, or nearly so, on your board right then. The problem is, QBs, more than any other position, need snaps to develop properly. It's not a position where you can expect players to get better properly by sitting on the bench, or, if they do, it takes almost the entirety of their rookie contract to do so. So, basically, with that pick you bought yourselves some young QB insurance in case something catastrophic were to happen to RGIII (injury or bust), but little else. At a time when you also depleted your available future draft picks tremendously. You're going to need those developed mid-rounders the next few years, and instead, you're likely going to have one superstar and one unfinished product.
Al that said, you guys put a stake through the heart of your never-ending QB nightmare last season, and that's the most important thing you could have accomplished, so, kudos.

Redskins are going to have their hands full with Cleveland. They've quietly won 3 in a row and play everyone hard.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

I'll certainly agree that backup QB was not the top of our needs in the draft. However, on the flip side of this argument is how highly valued young QBs are. It's just as conceivable Cousins could be sent next year - especially if he continues to look competent as a rookie - for a 2nd? Maybe another pick or two?
That might seem a bit high, but look at the deals Kevin Kolb and Matt Flynn got very recently, based off very little actual game tape.

I think this pick was made with the idea to trade him for more picks later, knowing they were going to be without a 1st for 2 years. Someone will overpay for Cousins, unless he looks Ryan Leaf/Heath Shuler level lost.

Thank God! Since Mark Rypien, it's been a horror show (with brief one-year respites)! My blood pressure is a lot lower with RGIII!
