We'll get our fourth back next year. But, like everyone else, I'd rather give up a fourth for a 1st or 2nd round talent any day.

Canty is not strickly a 34 DE. He fits in a 43 LDE as well. In fact, all the defensive players taken, this year, can go with either scheme.

I thought that we gave up our 5th this year and our 4th next year. Anybody know for sure?
That's why they play the game

I think he'd make a better DT than DE. The knock on him, apparently, is that he lacks speed. Bulk him up to 315-320 and turn him into a massive rock that teams have to go around.

I think as a 43 DT, he could be very effective. I don't see him as a NT in a 34 at all. His top end speed is not exceptional but his quickness combined with his natural strength put OLs on there heels. I think he can play either position.

Several places have noted that he might make a better OT than he would a DE... it's not total hogwash.

I agree as a 43 DT. If your lining up him and ferguson w/ glover and ellis/spears as the ends - that's a mean front four. Real mean.

Sorry MW
A OT is Hogwash...
He is a 3-4 DE!
Too tall to play inside at DT or NT fella's...

Sporting News draft magazine lists him as the best run stopper among DE's. So I would call the OT rumour as some kind of joke. MAN, are we going to upgrade the DE position or what???

Our D has improved overall. I see him and Demarcus Ware doing the same thing, playing outside LB.

canty won't be playing line backer. HE is closer to DT than he is linebacker.

DL/OT is that a new hybrid position?
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
