Default Report: Jake Matthews will stay for senior yr

Former NFL scout Russ Lande cites a "good source" that tells him Texas A&M junior T Jake Matthews will return for his senior season.
This isn't a major surprise, although many expected the right tackle to enter this draft. Matthews likely wants a full season of tape on the left side, similarly to how the Pouncey brothers treated the NFL Draft and the center position. We will wait on official word after the Aggies' bowl game, however.

Bummer, he would have pushed another player down to us.

He was iffy in that the family has money so no rush for that reason. If he stars at LT next year, he probably goes top 5. Would have been a top 20 this year this year IMO.

Damn, was one of the players I would have wanted at 18.

Oh well. Pet cat for next year.

I was really hoping he'd get lost in the shuffle and be there at 18.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

I still really like Lane Johnson, to me he is a sleeper and will be a very good RT.

There are images around the web of 6-06 Joeckel and 6-05 Matthews standing shoulder to shoulder. Matthews is a good two inches shorter than Joeckel and doesn't seem to have arms that are disproportionately long, where that would compensate for a shorter build. These are off-the-field images for publications/media guides, so could be poor photoshop composites.

If he were 6-03 3/4, still an OT?

Haven't seen many sources that had Matthews rated low; Many had him up in the top 5-10. If that were accurate, how could he improve his stock for next year. There are already better LT prospects for 2014. Maybe he didn't get that kind of response from the NFL scouts.

no, 6'4 is pushing it. 6'3 and he needs to play guard
