Default Super Bowl Roster for 2013!

This is an a more aggressive version of my basic 2013 starting lineup. All draft picks are included.

The changes from the 2012 roster are:

All players healthy.
Draft picks.
1 expensive Free Agent.
4 mid-level Free Agents

Offense
LT – Smith
LG – Jonathan Cooper (1st round pick)
OC – Costa or Kowalski or Bernadeau (Move Cooper here later)
RG – Brandon Moore (FA, Jets) Just give Livings base Salary to Moore.
RT - Parnell, Dallas Thomas (2nd round pick, eventually moves to OG)
WR – Dez, Austin, Harris, Domenik Hixon (FA)
TE – Witten, Hanna
RB - Murray, (4th=Kenjon Barner or Stepfan Taylor)
FB – Vickers

Defense
OLB – Ware, Spencer (3rd=Brandon Jenkins, 6th=Quanterus Smith)
ILB – Lee, Carter
DE – Hatcher, Dezmond Bryant (FA, 6-6, 311)
NT – Ratliff and Terrance Knighton (FA, 6-3, 330) (5th=Brandon Williams)
CB – Carr, Claiborne, Scandrick
Safety – Jarius Byrd (FA), Sensabaugh/Church (extra 4th=D.J. Swearinger)

Play Ratliff primarily at DT in the 4-man line of the nickel defense.

*I traded down 2 spots in the 1st for an extra 4th

This team would be somewhere between 10 and 15 million above the salary cap. Sorry, there's just no way you fit Moore, Spencer, Byrd and Knighton in.

Jairus Byrd has a 100% chance of being franchised.

Also, where is all this money coming from?

cowboys need to challenge that 5 million cap penalty. it's really hurting us...regardless of what stephen jones says.

Brandon Carr's 2012 cap hit was only 3.2M.

If a guy with a 50M contract has a 1st year cap hit of 3.2M, how much do you think it will cost for the 5 Free Agents that I listed?

Cutting Free is +7M against the cap.

There was 29.77M in dead-money against the 2012 cap and only 2M currently against the 2013 cap.

Spencer already counted 8.86M against the 2012 cap.

My 2013 salary cap estimate is here:

There are also reports of an extra 7M of salary cap room in the form of carryover from 2012.

comical thread man... They can work around the cap and create space for only 2 quality FA's in my eyes, maybe could work a 3rd in there... If I had my choice in who to pursue in free agency, I would tag Spencer, & go after Andy Levitre... I have seen zero film on Knighton but I know we need a solid player on the d-line, so if you can get one without breaking bank then I guess he is the guy??

Ok saying Dallas does do all this. Dallas will probably need 7 mil to sign rookies. Ur going to say that all those FAs are going to come out to less than 6 mil against the cap? I applaud the effort. Just think ur FAs are too realistic considering Dallas' cap situation

I notice you didn't include Romo in your offense, although I assume you include him without listing him.

Probably the first offseason that I'm not excited to see what happens and this just makes me more depressed over what probably won't happen.

You missed the part about the 7M carryover from 2012.

Here are the cap hits of the players from the 2012 draft at the approximate picks that the Cowboys will have:

18, 1.53M
50, 0.73M
82, 0.53M
114, 0.5M
146, 0.44M
178, 0.39M

Total = 4.12M

Yes, I just forgot to include him. He is included in my salary cap calculations.

This appears to be purely off-the-top-of-your-head without any basis. You have a gut-feeling about what they can afford.

If you have some accurate salary cap info please share; otherwise, your gut-feeling guesses are comical.

Levitre is the popular name at OG; however, Matt Slauson and Brandon Moore played 4-years in Callahan's Zone Blocking Scheme. Slauson also played for him in college.
