Default So if you hire Lovie Smith

and Jason Garrett is terrible again next year... Do you make Lovie your head coach?

I think if Jason fails and he has someone like Lovie on board then Lovie would get the HC job just like Garrett did.

Is that good for the team? Could Garrett trust someone like that?

If this is even a thought in Jerry's mind then he should just let Jason go now.

No you don't fire him. Havn't you been paying atterntion? For 6 years almost everybody has been a scapegoat and fired except for him.

Maybe Garrett will get to see how Wade felt..........................Karma
As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"

2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

Why not just make Lovie the HC/DC and hire Norv for OC? Then you've upgraded both positions, not just one.
Ivy League

Jason Garrett offense rank minus Tony Sparano: 18, 14, 7, 15, 15

Wouldn't be a bit surprised if that's how it eventually plays out in the longrun, even if it doesn't happen this offseason. Or Norv the HC inheriting Lovie as his DC.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

Why not have Norv be OC
Lovie DC
Garrett HC

Now you have all 3 positions filled correctly

I actually believe this is how it will play out this season. Sort of like a dream team of coaching.

Because Norv may not want to work for a guy whose diaper he used to wipe.

What does Jason even do in this situation, give outstanding PCs?

On that same token, if we get an OC that lights up the offense with limited personnel changes, would we risk losing that guy to another team as an HC at the expense of retaining Jason?

I would have no problem with this line up for next year.

That's possible.

What do any other walkaround HCs do? They manage the entire team..and the games

Good question. Because if his main job is to make game management decisions, then does it really matter who the rest of the staff is?

Let Garrett focus on the thing that he is weakest at.

Sounds like an excellent plan.

I don't think anyone of HC experience will come here to be a DC. Simply, you could be out of a job in a year if we don't make the playoffs. Seems that due to the GM and HC, any job of the staff wouldn't come with much job security.
