#1 reason why Rodgers has the top QB rating of all time (regular season and post season) is his willingness to take sacks -- lots of sacks, instead of attempting to make a play where the results are "iffy".
Its a real interesting approach. He is criticized for it -- I saw something by Greg Cosell this week which basically says Aaron Rodgers leave a LOT of plays out there because of his extremely low risk tolerance. It was a criticism.

Heard that too.
His results are amazing though. I suspect he could maximize his team's scoring with a few more risks, but not too much. It's not like he's bus driving them with 18-20 TDs (much easier to keep the picks low). He's getting 35-40 TDs and still carrying a 5-1 ratio...crazy.
If he could find a medium between what he does and what Brees does, that might even be better. Right now, I bet his defesne sure appricates the lack of turnovers though. Brees had 4 more Tds passes but 11 more picks.

I'd say a starting S is a key player on most teams. Especially when that player was the early talk of the defensive camp.
It wasn't just our injuries. They were also mostly one side of the ball, and we were hit multiple times in the same position groups (ILB, OC, S). It's one thing to play your #2. It's something else to start the season with your #4 C who's been with the team all of 4 days.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Wait what? How accurate is this?
only 5 players on IR? We had 11 players on IR... hell we had 6 starters on IR (Church, Lee, Carter, Coleman, Costa, Jones).
Then factor in that Scandrick was basically a starter who was placed on IR and we all know what happened with Brent who was just as important since our true starting NT was out much of the season.

They were only counting the number of lost starts by opening days starters.

Seriously! Ratliff's injury was the biggest, then Lee, then Carter. Church? What's wrong with people.

but you have to wonder if taking all those sacks will catch up to him physically.

Again... Injuries are no excuse for lack of execution.

Practice time and all else equal, you would at least the attempt at excecution wuld be the same. Of course, the actual execution is why we have 1st string and backups. The starters usually do it better or they wouldn't be out there.
There's reasons why the 1st stringers are ahead of the 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th string guys....and thay're not always just physical.
