I'm not a supporter of Garrett's offensive play calling by any means. I've criticized him enough. But it's silly to think that he doesn't get three full years (with training camps) and right now, it looks like things might just get better, starting with the Kiffen hiring. Stiffen up the offensive line in the draft or FA, reduced his responsibilities and get someone to help as OC, hope for less injuries on either side of the ball, and I think we have a shot next year.
Is there any reward for good other than good?

You have to factor in his time as an OC as well.

If you've worked with the guy first hand for 6 years then you know what you have at this point.

Just call a spade a spade and move on.

I am at the point where I think nothing much is going to change offensively. Garrett is doing a good job of deflecting his lack of an offensive game.

Maybe it is time to go all-in on the defense thru the draft and FA. Lets at least have one dominant side. If SF, Sea, etc can get there with those QB's, then so can we IMO.
Everyone has a plan, until they get hit.

Maybe.

I do know that Gruden (if hired here) would have the most talent on offense that he's ever had as HC. Look at the QB's Gruden has worked with:

Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson, Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski, Jeff Garcia, Tim Rattay, Rob Johnson, etc.

WRs:

Jerry Rice, Jerry Porter, Keyshawn, Joe Jurevicious, Keenan McCardell, David Boston, Michael Clayton, Joey Galloway, Ike Hilliard, etc.

RBs:

Charlie Garner, Cadillac Williams, Michael Pittman, Mike Alstott, Ernest Graham, etc.

Now, after looking over those names (and I'm sure I left some out), I don't believe he's exactly had stellar talent over the years. I'm also not overlooking the fact that Gruden has had some pretty awful drafts. Of course, he's to blame for a good portion of that. Just trying to be subjective.

Basically, I'm saying that looking at Gruden's portfolio of work over the last 5 seasons of his time with the Bucs would not tell the true story. I truly think this would be the best situation for Gruden.

I agree though, that Garrett isn't going anywhere. The move would've been made already.

Well, it's hard to say. Three years under Wade with the team getting progressively less disciplined, with at least one playoff victory and the #1 seed in the playoffs. Just like Landry's three year rule with players, I think he gets at least three years as a head coach. I think our talent acquisition is steadily improving and the organization seems to be turning it around. Since I have no power over it, I can only hope based on what I see.
Is there any reward for good other than good?

the day Kiffin showed up at VR he arrived with Garrett not JJ.....Kiffin talks of his meeting with JG....JG is the one who has the connection with Kiffin from the Buc days....

IMO it was Garrett that wanted the DC change, i think he was tired of having that undisciplined slob running down his sideline cussing at opposing players, and drawing penalties....

this may be hard to comprehend but Garrett really does have the power to choose his own staff and players

The team looks no different other than they try harder in Garrett. Wade got better results though.

Sometimes I wonder if Wade would've had more post season success here if he could've picked his offensive coordinator.

We don't have to be that desperate (regardless of some on this Board).

Cut guys including Free, Coleman, Spears and restructure Carr and Romo. That will provide some of the cap room.

Pick up 1 quality OL and 1 quality DL in FA. Go and draft another DL, OL and a Safety. Pick up another RB and WR in the later rounds.

Pray that we stay healthier than last season.

No reason we can't be better than last season.

But we don't have one of those QBs.

We have an "OHNO" QB that has been a lifelong loser regardless of his coach or talent level he was surrounded with. Pretty stats, but will lose at the first opportunity in the playoffs virtually every time, if he doesn't before he gets there.

Why? Because Jerry says so? I suppose JG is forcing himself to hire a OC?

Honestly, the fact that some of you STILL think coaches’ call the shots here is unbelievable.
By the end of 2014 Romo will not be starting for the cowboys and the most popular phrase on the board will be..."see I knew we shouldn't have signed him to that big contract".

Has there been a playcaller hired by Jerry that I haven't heard about? He already has an OC.
