Garrett is resisting? Really? Doesn't that fly in the face of him being a puppet? It's the same folks saying he's a puppet that are now saying he is quietly fighting this?
Quietly fighting is another way of saying nothing at all. It's a unprovable claim based on rumor. Florio has a always been good at finding what fans are talking about (a possible OC) and coming up with a way to stir the pot with it.
Some people desperately need to learn how to be a little skeptical of the world around them.

Sad but very true.
Garrett to players: Make today a great day; go about the business of winning! If you can't keep up then don't step up.

The entire problem with this scenario is that there is no one to bring in to call plays for Garrett's offense. He doesn't have a coaching tree full of guys who know his offense and that he trusts. If you force a play calling offensive coordinator on him, then Garrett either has to teach the OC his offense or they have to run a new offense that the OC is familar with. If I was Garrett, I'd be resisting it to. If he isn't calling the plays, then what is he really doing? His job will then be totally dependant on his coordinators. If Jerry is really forcing this on Garrett, then it's just another step towards getting him out the door. I don't see how you can force this on a young head coach. Older head coaches with a large coaching tree of experienced guys familiar with their system, yes. Garrett is still trying to build a reputation in the league with his offensive capabilities. You either have faith in his abilities and let him do what he wants or you don't and you fire him. If this report is true, it's a recipe for disaster and can only lead to more losing. Garrett is smart enough to know this and to understand that this is a giant shove towards the door. I'd be resisting it to!

We're saying that Garrett should look objectively at his playcalling and see that someone else could do it better, and allow Garrett to do what he does best; Lead men. Posters make a good point about Garrett trusting people and not having a full assortment of coaches that are experts in his offense. But for the life of me I cant understand why we didnt bring in Sparano.
Cowboy Underdog for 2007: Patrick Watkins

Hard to believe the lady part of this, as it sounds incredibly insecure.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

I don't know if I agree with you. How do we know leading men is what Garrett does best? I haven't seen him do it yet. Actually, I don't really think you can do it as a head coach until you have built a strong reputation based on your abilities and acomplishments. Garrett hasn't proven anything yet and if you take away his biggest gameday responsibility, you also take away his ability to be the teams leader. He will have no repect from the players. Offense is supposed to be his thing. He was hired as the next big offensive genius in the league. Either let him develop into that or decide he is never going to be that and fire him. He is too young to have his offense taken away from him. He either needs to be left alone to do it his way or you move on. There is no way this team will be successful with an OC calling plays for an offense that he doesn't know.

When you want to win a game, you have to teach. When you lose a game, you have to learn.

Maybe more people need to resist Jerry's wishes and wants.

In principle, this also holds a lot of merit.

Your idea of objective isn't mine and probably isn't the head coach's. When I look at it objectively I see absolutely no issue with scheme or play calling. I see a fan crutch. A cop out. I see a lack of talent up front to the tune of the worst OL in the league.
The absolute worst thing we can do is retain a head coach who wants to run his offense and then force him into bringing someone else on the staff to run it for him. It's ridiculous micromanaging nonsense that this team has seen too many times over the last 17 years. It destroys the credibility and authority of the head coach. Setting him up for nothing but failure.
You either roll with Garrett in charge or you fire him. It's should be as simple as that.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

6 years calling plays and we haven't produced like we should. We can't blame the oline all the time because we did have a pretty decent line a few years ago. It's time to let go of calling plays. We need change. Either do it or get out

We haven't had a quality line in nearly 20 years.

I wouldn't stand for this, Jason. I think you should resign immediately.

That would be the better alternative than forcing a play caller on him.

Good point. I'd normally side with you on this one but I've actually seen Garrett try to call plays and manage a game and he clearly needs help.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.
