It's more than the team can't support to sign many of these $10m/year contracts.

Carr averages $10m/year
Romo will average will above $10m/year
Ware averages $10m/year

Sign Bird and you are looking at another guy close to $10m/yyear

That's $40m -- 1/3rd of the cap for 4 guys. I just don't think signing Bryd (or Spencer) makes sense from a cap perspective.

How many years can we ignore safety (the playmaking position and qb position of the secondary and maybe the whole defense)

Why do you think we play off the ball so much as a secondary ?
