John Clayton Mike & Mike: Clayton suggests Larry Allen could miss the HOF this year w/Audio #125

Was watching Mike and Mike this morning and John Clayton suggests that due to the quality of the HOF candidates, Ogden, Sapp, Strahan, Parcells, and somebody else I can't recall that Larry Allen, being a guard, could miss out on this year's HOF vote.

BTW, Clayton is a HOF voter.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

If Larry Allen isn't a first ballot HOFer, I'll never watch it again.
1. Brandon Magee will beat out Ernie Sims for the backup WILL/MO roster spot.

2. Ron Leary will start at right guard over Bernadeau.

3. Joseph Randle, Terrance Williams and Gavin Escobar will have more combined TD's than DeMarco Murray, Miles Austin and Jason Witten.

4. Bruce Carter makes the Pro Bowl.

5. The starting OL will be Smith-Livings-Frederick-Leary-Free

That would be a complete travesty. Sapp gets in but not Allen? All Sapp was was a DT.

Allen is probably the best guard of all time, not just during the 90's. Gimme a break.

Wow. That would be criminal.
The truth almost always lies somewhere in between...

Many writers can't stand the Cowboys and try to convice all of us that we just lucked into 3 SB's all those years ago. Was Ogden that good? Larry is one of the greatest lineman of all time and if these guy's bias win the day...then it's just sad...

Ask Sapp & Strahan if they think Allen was a chump???

Ogden was that good. I mean incredible.

However it's a pathetic shame that they only allow a certain amount of players in each year. Allen should easily be first ballot, but not too many guards get in to begin with these days...he will get in though.

I wonder who the other person was...Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Charles Haley, Kevin Greene ? Hmm...out of those maybe Cris Carter deserves his spot as well.

But I agree that Sapp should be the one that misses out this time around.

Why should Sapp even get in?

I'm sorry, but Ogden and Parcells do not deserve to go in before LA.

Ogden and Parcells? Definitely they deserve to go in.

But Sapp before Larry Allen?

Not right.

Larry played tackle & guard. He played guard in his later years and still no one wanted to go up against him. No way Ogden is even sniffing LA's jock in talent & performance. Geez!!!

Larry was a better O-Lineman (remember, he was an Pro Bowler at LG, RG and RT) than Sapp was a DT or Strahan was a DE. And I have a fair amount of respect for those two, but compared to Larry he's so far ahead of Sapp. People forget how Sapp became very one dimensional around 2000-ish. Strahan is a bit closer of a race, but I can't see him as better than Larry.

"Larry Allen is simply the best offensive lineman ever
to play in the NFL. Hands down"
- John Madden

"We call him the legalized killer. He doesn't just
block people, he hurts people. He's probably the only guy who you watch on film who makes you cringe."
- Michael Strahan

"No doubt Larry was the most dominating guy in
the league, and it may not even be close."
- Deion Sanders

"The saddest thing is how many players will
watch him on film during the week and then
they pull up with some mysterious injury or flu or
something. We call that catching 'Allen-itis.'"
- Michael Strahan

Why are people surprised Sapp and Strahan gets in?

They are part of the media now. NFL network probably making pitches for Sapp. Strahan has Fox and Kelly people to help him.

At the end of the day, it is about entertainment and ratings. Allen maybe a better football player but people would rather see Sapp or Strahan.
