Default Jairus Byrd FA safety would be a fantastic pickup

I mentioned this in the Melton thread yesterday. Buffalo will most likely franchise him, but his career stats are amazing.

26 yrs old, 18 Ints, 10 forced fumbles, and 263 tackles in 4 yrs.

This team needs a playmaking safety, and IMO the only way we win next year is TOs.

He wont be cheap, but he would complete our secondary.

Cue Risen Star to throw up now.

He'll get franchised and so will Melton.

If either player is available I'd chomp the bit to get either. I say it's time to get rid of the trash, the crybabies, the can't-stay-on-the-fielders and get some new blood on this team.. and especially on defense.

It'd be great. His rookie season was lots of luck but he is still leagues above either of our safeties.

He'll most likely get franchised but if he doesn't I wouldn't mind the Cowboys taking a look at him.

I'd still much rather they work on the O-line and D-line, however, because I believe with the corners we have that we can win with the safeties with have with improved o-line and d-line play.

I hate the franchise tag and I don't understand why the players didn't kill it off in the new CBA.

Obviously, it would be a terrific pick-up.

I look at the team as needing 3 main positional areas: OL, DT, and S.

I think we need to come away from free agency with at least 1 good to very good player in one of those 3 areas. If we got Byrd, then we could focus on OL and DT in the first 2 or 3 rounds of the draft.

Needing all 3 will be more than we can do in just the draft alone, IMO, unless we get very lucky with a later round pick.

If we can't get Byrd from Buffalo, then we need to get Levitre for guard. Make the Bills choose who they want to lose.

I long for the day that we actually draft a ball-hawking FS.

Trent Dilfer: "Tony [Romo] has greatness in him. I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”

Agreed. Let's just be smarter drafting and maybe we wont have to break the bank every year in FA. That being said though I like Byrd and would take him in a heartbeat

Some at Valley Ranch think we did last year, but he didn't see the field.

Color me skeptical until we see actaul results.

They've already said that he isn't going anywhere...

I highly doubt Bills will let him walk, virtually zero chance of that happening.
Bye Free and Bernadeau.
Bye Austin and Ogletree.
Bye Sensy and McCray.

Bye Garrett.

Glover Quin would probably come cheaper.
