Kind the same on the opposite end of those who say "Tony sux" and "always chokes". Equally wrong.
You statement is way out of line.

This. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but to say that Romo is better than Elway ever was is just plain ridiculous. I think he´s forgetting Elway´s 3 SB appearances + an NFL MVP with no pro bowl WR, TE or RB (that I can recall anyway) before he went on to win two of them.
By the way, I love Romo but he is nowhere near Elway´s league.

But not quite as good as Romo I imagine??? Hey man I respect everybody’s opinion but you have to admit you are way off on this one, I think your hate towards Elway got the best of you
I could hate Kobe Bryant but I would never say Tony Parker is better than Kobe ever was haha

I don't go by SB wins. To me that's a factor but necessarily the ultimate factor of who's best at any one position.

Elway flat out carried some teams deep into the playoffs way before he was on a SB winning team.
Those were very good Denver teams but some of his playoff performances are still legendary. Ask any Browns fan. He had several Montana-like game winning drives.

Going by that method you would automatically rank Elway over:
Tarkenton
Fouts
Moon
Kelley
Marino
And I think things really start to get sticky there.
|
I am talking Elway pre SB wins, he had an NFL MVP along with 3 SB appearances with no pro bowlers at skill positions on offense as well as him being a 7 time pro bowler, so he basically carried those teams, so for the sake of this discussion the two SB he won later on are non-factors.
You can argue Marino vs Elway but IMO that´s about it. Romo is not in that category I am sorry.
But hey man to each his own I guess, cheers.

Oh I acknowledge that Elway was dynamite in the clutch.

Yep.
I never agree with people that say "so and so win the game" or other similar comments, but Elway is the closest I've ever seen in the NFL to being a guy that could "Win games".
Elway was the Michael Jordan of football. The dude is probably the most clutch QB of all time and went to the dance 3 times w/no running game and average WR's (and a solid, not GREAT defense).

You could even put the age of the the QB on the team that lost as well. Because if they are good enought to getthere then they are good enough to win. I'm sure we know Brady is still good enough. Peyton too. And Warner played one the best SB games ever in the Arizona loss to Pittsburgh.

I usually trust your post...but your out of your mind with that statement. You realize nobody will be talking about Romo in 10 years and Elway will still be in the debate as one of better QBs of our time. Take Romo name out of the equation - if any QB who has ever played in NFL could not advance their team past 2nd round of playoffs...they should NEVER -EVER be compared or even suggested they were better than Super Bowl winning QB, Super Bowl MVP, MVP of league, 9 time all pro, 1st round ballot Hall of Fame.

Hey you make good points Wood... Very good points.
I just think we're watching one of the great performances of all-time at QB, and when it's gone only then will we truly know how great a performance it was.

Michael...do you get chance to watch other teams? I have seen every Romo game and there are others who are doing it better. I thought you were joking but now I can see you truly believe it. I guess everyone has their vice. Just enjoy the Romo years.

Wow! It sounds like you're more down on Romo... And that's OK too.
And yes there is some terrific QB play in the league.
Yep, Brady does it better. Aaron Rodgers is great. The guy in NO is something special too.

Your being very respectful with your opinion but it is so off base it really can't be taken seriously. Elway played in an era where DBs MAULED WRs. QBs had to find tiny spaces to throw and had to be accurate. Offenses were limited. For a majority of those years he not only took a bunch of no-talent WRs and RBs ( Ricky Nattiel, Mark Jackson, and Vance Johnson, Sammy Winder and Steve Sewell) to SBs but constantly won and carried teams on his back. He then went on and still competed and won 2 SBs when he did have help. He has appeared in 5 SBs...the most of any QB in the SB era until Brady. 6 AFC Championship games where he was the only guy for 3-4. How is Romo, in an era of wide open football where DBs can't touch a WR and where QBs throw 40 times a game better or even close? Come on man. He has led us to 1 playoff win. This is the type stuff that just shouldn't be said.
