I wouldn't resign romo right now. Let him show what he has with a revamped oline and a new defense. If he pulls a flacco or kaepernick and takes us somewhere then I'm all for it. but until he proves himself we can't to him yet

I'd extend him in a heartbeat. As will the Cowboys.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Re-signing Romo helps are cap situation, it doesn't hurt it.

Don't you love people totally ignoring that Romo might actually have a say in whether he gets extended?

I have a feeling a lot of QBs are waiting to see how much Joe Flacco gets which could take a while so I dont see Romo getting extended anytime soon. As someone stated an extension might not even save that much cap space since Romo was at a bargain in his last contract.

A Flacco or Kaepernick?

Ravens - 12th ranked defense (pts), 6th* in rushing touchdowns
49ers - 2nd ranked defense (pts), 6th* in rushing touchdowns
In the final two months of 2011, Romo’s passer rating was 115.9.

No disrespect, but I've seen this same post for 6 years.

Oh contraire.

A little short-term relief...and then a heavy burden. I think Romo and the Cowboys both have lots of reasons to pause on this.

They don't have a choice. Cap number is far too high for Dallas to just ride on his last year and see what happens.

Can't afford to not re-sign him, can't operate without the annual restructuring, and looking to cut guys who would leave lots of dead money on the books.

Not a fan of the annual shuffling of cap space at all.

All signs point to Romo being extended this offseason to make his cap hit more friendly in the short term and we all know we need to clear some cap space.

My question is, would you focus on re-working some other player's contracts to clear that room and get under the cap, let Tony play out this last season under contract albeit at a substatial cap number and see where we are as a team at the end of the season. Or....

Do what is expected and extend him now.

If the team seriously underachieves this season perhaps not having Tony signed long term to a mega deal makes more sense. We have been snake bitten many times over by signing aging vets to big contacts as their wheels were coming off.
We really dont have a choice on extending Romo, our cap situation is so bad that we really cant afford Romo's cap charge this year without taking a weed whacker to the roster and sitting out of free agency.

We really dont have a choice, especially with the $5 mill cap penalty we still have to pay this year.
As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"

2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"
