Actually, you're a little off-base. Brady's contract is already outdated and a QB of Brees' caliber is not going to hit the open market for years. It's VERY conceivable that Romo's contract would exceed both Brees and Manning. The league just saw two CBs get contracts upwards of $50+ million and WR that got a monster $100 million dollar deal.

Romo, on the open market, would command more than everyone aforementioned. You don't have to like it but it is the reality.

With the natural progression of salaries, he's probably right. Think how much a QB-deficient, beleaguered team like the Cards or Jags or Chiefs would give him.

Tucker isn't wrong.

What he describes were for a FA Romo which means no trade pieces at all.

And he'd certainly become NFL's highest paid player even if he never actually saw the bulk of the contract.

Dallas fans tend to fairly clueless but make no mistake plenty of teams feel if you give them Tony Romo they are going to win Super Bowls.

Cleveland couldn't write that fat check fast enough. Jacksonville and many others would be right there.

yeah there are a couple of teams that could write a check for $40 million guaranteed right now and absorb that cap hit the first year.

He could start by not redoing his contract for this season and the cap crippling effect it would have.

Whoever would pay him are not in any better position than the Cowboys to win a couple of rings.

Chiefs, Jags, Cards, Browns, Jets, Raiders, Eagles, Titans. Those are the few I can think of that need a QB, none are currently better than the Cowboys.

If I were Romo, I would hold JJ hostage...fix this sorry OL or I will not sign a long term deal.

First of all, to those who would not take 2 #1s for Romo. Seek help.

Second, does anybody believe Romo could play enough mistake free football to win 3-4 play-off games and win a super bowl? Please show you're evidence, because there's plenty out there that supports he cannot.

Seriously, if you want to sign the guy to a deal that will not strap the team in 2 years when he gone, fine.

I agree with your thinking 100%. If there was any indications that this team was on the edge of winning a Super Bowl within the next couple of years, I would feel different. Another thing to consider is Romo's age. Expecting him to play at the current level for several more years is wishfull thinking. I expect him to start declining within the next three years. It is going to take too long to fix the trenches for Romo to benefit from it during his career if they continue at the current pace.
