He had 55 catches for over 600 yards and 5 TD's. His previous career high was 33 catches for a little over 200 yards and he had 4 career TD's. Yeah I would say he got a chance to shine as a TE he did. I know you hate to give any ex-Cowboy credit but you can see when given a chance he almost tripled his career high in yardage, surpassed the number of TD's he had in his career in 1 season and caught almost twice as many passes.
And LOL at using NOT. Who says that anymore. Is this 2005 or 2013.

Ok no offense to this idea but his previous high of 33 was as a back up. He didn't start, he wasn't the main TE, and he would have been the 3rd or 4th option most likely on most plays that he did play in.
So the fact that with the Giants this year he was the STARTER, there for the main TE, and he only improved his best by 22 catches over 16 games? Sorry but color me not real impressed.
The TDs was kind of impressive. Although most of those game in the first few games didn't it?

Hmmmmm. if his high was 33 for 200 thats a 6ypc avg, at 55rec at 600yds thats almost 11ypc. I would say that a big improvement.

I guess. It's not that big a deal to me when its factored in that one set of stats is as a back up to one of the best TEs of all time and the other is as a starter.

I think Hanna will end up being much more productive as a pass catcher than Bennett ever was. I think we rolled the dice that we could convert him into a speed mismatch threat like a Vernon Davis and Jimmy Graham against LBs and a size mismatch threat against DBs.
I think the key to really making it go is using the 2-TE offense as a passing offense which we never could do with Bennett. To really make it go with the mismatch we really want (LBs on Hanna) we need to keep defenses in their base alignment which means we need a credible running attack. This means Hanna has to at least be a passable blocker. Wes Phillips needs to work really hard with him on blocking technique and Woicik needs to work really hard with him on developing NFL type strength.
I think the 5 best weapons we can put out there now in one package is a toss-up between Hanna/Witten/Dez/Austin/Murray and Harris/Witten/Dez/Austin/Murray. Ideally I'd like to see us line up 2-TEs about 60% of the time. We could then maybe run 3 WRs about 30% of the time and then go jumbo with FB about 10% of the time.
I really like the dimension that Hanna could bring to this offense. I still remember that Pittsburgh LB trailing him helplessly on that crossing pattern - it was so easy with that mismatch.

I remember the talk of making opposing teams stay in their base defenses as a reason for drafting Bennett.
Is it the cowboys fault he never developed into that role?
Had Phillips stayed healthy he'd have relegated Bennett to 3rd on the depth chart.
The guy never took his role seriously in Dallas and now as a full time starter in NY he put up average numbers.
It's nothing really to complain about. IMO.
My hope is that Hanna gives Dallas the Hernandez type weapon you see out in New England.

don't get your panties in a wad that no one else thinks much of the Tard except you.
Just what was his ranking vs other NFL TE's?
AND did you notice how much he was ignored later in the season?
Probably not. You do not strike me as being particularly observant.

Exactly right.
In two out of the Giants final 3 games, when they were fighting for the playoffs, Bennett caught 1 pass.
2 times in the three most important games of the year for his team and he came up with 1 catch in each game.
Also of note he had 4 games through out the year where he only caught 1 ball. Of course I'll mention that Witten only caught 1 pass in each of the first 3 games of last season, while recovering from his spleen injury, but as soon as he was healthy he exploded and went onto a career year.

I think he's one of the top five back-up QB's in the league. I feel comfortable with him coming in for Romo for a game or two. Hopefully the Oline wouldn't get him killed.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Hanna does next year.
Martellus did do better with the Giants, but he also messed up routes and had drops. I saw Eli Manning yell at him on Monday Night Football. Next, Bennett will be hating on Eli and blame the Giants that he didn't do better. I can't stand him or his trash talking brother.

Perhaps one of the most significant comments in a post on this board in the last several years.
it is so simple when someone articulates truth.
Leadership makes people better.
Note Orton is on him and not just standing back and leading by example.

He's a top 20 QB. Teams are just trying out younger players but he's a top guy.

I dunno if he's a better QB than I think he is, but he's definitely a better leader/teacher than I ever gave him credit for. This is realy great to hear. This is a true team player.

Yup, everyone on the team is an "elite" player/prospect. Such is the life of a Cowboys fan.
