Didn't Callahan just come out and say he liked our current group? This could be a long offseason...

Yeah, it's called the PC answer.
We need to focus on the trenches, Warmack or Cooper would be a great start.

As much as I'm a true fan, I have to shake my head in wonder. If we as fans and those in the media can see it, why can't Jerry? Every year I think "OK this time we'll get it right" but Jerry always opts for the guy who will sell jerseys.
Trade down unless something great drops to us, and let's go out and get some real game improvement pieces. To coin a phrase, you can't cross the moat till you fill in the trenches.

Obviously either of those options is better than what we've been doing for the past six years. It seems like we have less of a plan and more of a system where we're constantly trying to plug holes in a dam with things like cats and paper towel rolls. It's not that we aren't trying, we just appear to have no idea what we're doing.

I think if we could upgrade RT and LG we'd be ok, if we get guys who can plug and play in Callahan's system. But if recent history is any indicator, we have neither the vision nor patience for something like that.

Isn’t that the definition of incompetent?

And yet we'll probably go DT in the first round instead.
Not saying DT is not a big need as well, just hope we can go O-Line in the first.

I'd beg to differ. I think we're emulating rather than having a plan... the only problem is, our minds change every year.

I completely agree I just forgot to mention that. We were all like "oh yeah lets get Houck in here to coach these maulers", then we were all like "oh no Garrett's system needs more athletic blockers lets get Callahan in here to coach zone blocking" then we were all like "screw running the ball".
victory is ours

As outlandish as this sounds, it really really could happen.

Thanks, I was straining my noodle trying to remember who said that. Wow.
By the end of 2014 Romo will not be starting for the cowboys and the most popular phrase on the board will be..."see I knew we shouldn't have signed him to that big contract".

It's hilarious to hear the words I (and others) have been chanting for years finally on everyone's lips.
This is so overdue it's not even funny.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

What does Polian know???
Pleeease, wait until Costa and Killer come back.
Of course Callahan will stay positive with current group. You dont want to tip your FA and/or draft intentions.

Well, the usual suspects are conspicuously missing,,, but they will be back in full-throated support of whatever Jerry does (or doesn't) do when free agency and the draft arrive.

I'm certainly in favor of a new center, guard(s), and right tackle; however, that is not only very unlikely to happen, it would also present its own problems with lack of continuity which we all know is important on the OL.
Improving the OL play is an easily reached goal.
1. It would be almost impossible NOT to improve the play.
2. We started 3 guys on the interior who were totally new to the team and to each other, one of which was the guy we never expected to be playing center, along with two tackles switching sides last year.
If there are no changes, the OL play will improve due to experience, coaching, and familiarity/teamwork.
Add in a better center, anyone from Costa to a newbie, and we improve dramatically. Upgrade another piece at guard or RT, and we are that much better by mid-season.
Make two many changes, and we struggle next year, but look better for the long term. We definitely need to improve individually on the OL, but part of our struggles as an OL last year was playing and thinking as one; that will be a recurring problem if too many changes take place in one season.
I would be satisfied to see Costa get a full season at center with a veteran pickup at RT and a rookie OG who has to work his way up. Of course, several other variations would work as well. Even our SB OLs were built one piece at a time over several years. You can't do it all at once and expect results.
