Per the article I posted earlier in the thread:

Romo’s current deal can’t be “restructured” because there’s only one year left on it. The cap number will drop only if the parties extend the deal to cover future years. But Romo has no reason to extend the contract without receiving a large chunk of cash.

If Romo is willing to shoulder the risk of injury, he can ride out the final year of his deal, forcing the Cowboys to use the franchise tag in 2014. Based on his 2013 cap number, it would cost the Cowboys $20.16 million to keep him next season.

For that reason, Romo should be seeking a minimum guaranteed payment of $36.96 million, which is the sum of what he’ll make over the next two seasons.

That means the organization is ready to step in another direction and start over. Believe me this is not the case. Tony will be given an contract extension. Trading Romo would be the dumbest thing this organization could do right now.
Makes perfect sense to me....Lovie Smith is sitting on his couch waiting for the call from Jerry...
Get er' done....

There isn't one worth looking at. Bad year for those teams in QB market.
Gotta agree with Charean here. It's not a deep class at all.

Agreed.

What the hell has happened to Mosely?

Yeah, I think that's exactly what many people around here believed. I hope they are right but I don't think they are.

So, what's best for this team is to fire Jason Garrett and trade Tony Romo? Yeah, right.

Not saying the OP is wrong, but I listened to the Mosley part this morning and I didn't get that... I thought Mosley's point on Stephen was that he said in one sentence that we need Romo and need to get something done, then a sentence or two later said he didn't feel that good about the negotiations. As Mosley said, that's very Jerry-like to contradict oneself like that and he hopes Stephen isn't just turning into a mini-Jerry.

But I agree with what Abe said:

Quote:
Tony and his agent likely do not pay much attention to media accounts or sound bites. They talk directly to Jerry and Stephen. That's all that matters
All parties here are too professional and there's too much money involved for hurt feelings to make any difference in this deal.

Jason Garrett offense rank minus Tony Sparano: 18, 14, 7, 15, 15

We need to tank next season, dump players over 30 and look to get a top 3 draft pick in next year's draft... Johnny Football come on up to
Dallas. Lovie Smith and his coaches to get a championship in 3 years....
Book It!!!!

Yep, we'd likely end up 8-8. Can't have that.
By the end of 2014 Romo will not be starting for the cowboys and the most popular phrase on the board will be..."see I knew we shouldn't have signed him to that big contract".

8-8? Try 2-14. But hey, at least we could get Johnny Football, right?

It's called talent. Tony needs more of that to protect him. Yeah, let's put some rookie or slow footed veteran behind our hideious OL.

You outta be thankful to have a QB like Romo who makes something out of nothing when the OL can't protect him. Put Orton in there and I'll gaurantee he won't make it 5 games.

We need to have the worst record in the league next year to get Johnny from A&M. We need a new HC and a new QB likely to take us to the promised land in a few years. This team has had its chances and failed each time... Let's move on to the next evolution...please.

Funny, Orton drove the team right down the field against the bears. Please spare me the second string garbage. Orton dropped back and got the ball out quickly on a rope into a tight window. Romo refuses to make that throw, he pulls the ball down and scrambles casusing problems and making a blocking nightmare for the OL. No doubt we need better horses up front, but Romo does them no favors.

It's amazing that every time a non-rookie Qb takes for Romo the team does better. Go figure.
