Default What about Michael Turner?

Very good beastly back. About to be released. 31 is not too old. I think he would be a great compliment with Demarco and can be every down back.

Too much mileage. Fresh legs is the way to go.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

Exactly. The draft is where to find a RB.

Not beastly. Tiptoes to the line of scrimmage now. He is done.

If we go the old-guy route, how 'bout Steven Jackson? Good compliment to Murray, and a long-time Cowboy fan...
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

if I had to choose between the two - would definitely take SJ without a second thought , but would much rather we get a younger back whether it be through the draft or free agency

The real answer is OL.

You could bring in AP (Minnesota) and if you dont upgrade the line....waste of time and money.

But Turner... even with an OL is not the fix.

I think Jackson this season is going to be one of those NE-style veteran picks. He's going to sign for less than people think because he's been in the league 9 or so years now, and everyone's carrying two guys and drafting them in the middle rounds these days. He'll end up signing a decent-value contract for the next two years before retiring.

He'd actually be a good guy in Dallas. Great veteran locker room presence. Good hard runner capable of being a change of pace or a part-time injury starter indefinitely. At the end of his career, and, as I said, a long-time Cowboy fan. And we're closer to competitive and have a better shot in our division than the Rams will this season. I'd think we'd be his second choice if he doesn't stay put and doesn't cost a fortune.

I'd much rather have Jackson if they were going to go the older vet back. I agree with some others though that the draft and fresh legs is the way to go at running back.

Doesn't he have a degenerative knee?

Turner is horrible and can't even be trusted on 3rd and 1 these days. If we bring in a veteran back they should be making the minimum.

Does he? I hadn't heard that. STL just extended him, and they're still trying to keep him on board if he doesn't exercise his option.
