About Playing Time
Parcells has yet to lie to the media or the general public. He has at times remained silent. One of the reasons most of his players respect him so much; he is straight up with them. Quincy Morgan told a reporter that Parcels was going to get him more involved in the offense this year. No one believed and a number of mocks had us taking a WR at 20. Should we be surprised that we didn't draft a WR high in the draft? No, if we had believed Parcels.
Glover and Ellis will remain integral parts of our D. Why? Because Parcels said he would like to reduce their snaps by 15-20%. He didn't say replace them. For some reason - I believe him. He said they are both good players, but he would like to make them more efficient. Look for Glover to be moved around the line, so that he can take advantage of any O-Line weakness. If a team has a weak left tackle and we go to a 3-4 set - Glover will be all over him. If a team has a weak center - dido. I just think we will use our best proven pass rusher to to exploit any weakness a team may have.

Yeah, I don't think there's any question both will be integral parts of the team next season.

Great post.
That is what is so good about this draft. It gives us so many options, especially if Canty can play this year. I am very excited to see how it all looks as a finished product.

Not to mention the fact that these guys havent played one down in the NFL yet.
Ellis and Glover start until someone plays better - period, end of story.
Having said that, it's not out of the question entirely, that one or more of these guys DO outplay Ellis/Glover.

I hope all of these new guys outplay Glover. I hope they all outplay Ellis. If they do, then this truly is an A+ draft.

Limiting the number of plays that Glover and Ellis has to play will really increase their effectiveness. They may not realize it now but wait till later in the season when they are still fresh in the 4th quarter....they will salivate at the thought of tired OL and pass rush the QB like they never did before.
We'll be able to rotate in players without drop off in talent and OL won't be able to get accustom to the style of defensive player because they will change constantly.
I hope the DL alone can rack up 40 sack next yr.

Glover played the fourth-most snaps of any defensive tackle in the league last year. The top three -- Kevin Williams, John Thornton and Marcus Stroud -- are all young guys who weigh 297 to 312 pounds. Glover is soon to be 31, and he weighs 282. He needs more breathers to remain effective.

We've really beaten the hell out of Glove quite frankly.
I'm glad help is on the way - I bet he is too.

The great defenses in the 90's relied on a constant flow between the bench and the line. Nobody had an o-line that could match our depth man-for-man. By the fourth quarter, the game was ours. I can see that day coming again. I don't know if it will get here, but it is certainly a possibility again.

From what I remember of last year's games, Glove would really stand out in the first half, time and again blowing up one-on-one blocking. It wasn't every play but it happened with some frequency. He messed up or nearly so loads of plays early in games, but in the 2nd half wasn't near the player.
Glover is a great guy to have on your team. Works hard, focuses on winning and keeps his nose clean. He also makes for a great radio interview and keeps a nice polish on the team with the local guys in media.
Putting him in a position to play 80-85% of the snaps he had previously is great as a game goes on and as he gets older. And he's a guy that has no problem when Parcells talks about lowering his numbers production for the good of the team winning.
I hope he can retire a Cowboy, in about four or five years that is.

This is the Doomsday D all over agian. What makes a D effective is not the amount of playmakers on the line, its about the abilty to bring in guys off the bench who can be good-great players, and constantly rotae them throughout the game.YOu get guys who want to play for the love of the game, and not ofr themselves then it helps even more, you dont have to worry about somebody whinning about money(TO) or playing time. to me we got high chartecter guys, and great talent the return of the Doomsday
