I feel the same way about him. Although it's funny how differing the two scouts see it on quite a few players. One called him the best, one said he just looks like the part.

Saw this piece from a twitter feed.

The Green Bay paper does a great job covering the draft.
Probably the only 3 decent papers for covering it are in Green Bay, Boston and Dallas.

Can't say much surprised me there.

Not a lot of shocking points made.

Clearly a lot of r1 beef. Skill positions are less than stacked. Plenty of Big 12 athletes with major speed at WR but QB is all about inconsistent guys and RB isn't star-studded.

Not much in the way of sexy coverage players.

If Mo Claiborne was in this draft he'd be rated #1 overall.

I like our area for this draft. Soft top 10 but r1 quality throughout 25 picks. Deeper than most years.

That last line about if a G isn't perfect you don't take him in Round 1 because otherwise there isn't much difference with a 4th rounder was obviously a Cowboys scout.

yeah. our past record obviously supports this premise.

one problem I have with UNNAMED scouts is just how good are they at evaluating various positions? Praise or pan you have to wonder which scout actually knows what he is talking about

No it's every team, which is why they hardly ever get drafted with a Top 20 pick. Teams hate taking them in the first round. Whether a guard blasts his guy off the ball by 5 yards or merely adequately seals the hole the outcome is the same regardless of aesthetics... just one guy on the defensive front 7 is blocked, and it's rarely the defensive's most cataclysmic game changing player.

Would be fascinated to hear rumblings on Margus Hunt. How far can dreams of JJ Watt propel someone's stock?

1 - Cooper
2 - Thomas
3 - Sly Williams

That's what I would hope for I think....though I'm not sure the second 2 will be there when we pick.

That would be sweet.
I can't see see Sly slipping to the 3rd though...almost a better chance of him in the 2nd and a safety in the 3rd.

Yea, but there are so many good DTs, I think its possible.

And I like Thomas more than most of the other safeties, which is why I'd prefer to go there in the 2nd and DT after.

If JG wouldn't take players off the board, we would have a lot more flexibility b/c I think you could get Bacarri Rambo in the 4th. Would allow us a lot more freedom to be creative with the first three picks, but instead, we'll use at least one of them on a WR/TE/RB who won't help us much, and miss out on a DT or OL....again.

The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars but in ourselves. Shakespeare

think about it...

if our GM gets fired he will not get another job as GM
if our director of pro-personnel gets fired he will not get another job as that in the NFL
if our HC gets fired he will not get another job as HC in the NFL

ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE IN POSITION ONLY BECAUSE JERRY IS THE OWNER AND GM

and not one of them is qualified to do the job they are doing

Hunt should have been much more productive in college. The only time he dominated was in the final game against a True-Freshman RT.

IMO, he didn't look that good at the Senior Bowl either.

I've said this elsewhere, but I don't get why Ansah gets a complete pass for being new to football while Hunt doesn't. Not saying the guy should be a first round pick, but he seems to be hurt by the rawness of his ability in ways that other players don't seem to suffer from.

I think people are higher on Ansah becuase they see progress in him as the season went along, how he seems play with naturally lower pad level despite his height and how quickly he picks up coaching. While Hunt seems to have plateaued in his development and still looks like the same guy he was at the end of last year.
