I would understand if Falcons had good pass rushers on the team already but they don't.

That is all fine and good, but he cost a lot of money and cap space. Hard sacrifices are sometimes needed. Maybe they sign him back at a cheaper rate down the line.

The release of Abraham comes as a bit of a surprise as the Falcons had an ineffective pass rush in 2012, producing just 29 sacks during the regular season. Abraham had 10 of those sacks and had six of the team's 15 forced fumbles. Abraham's solid season triggered a $1 million escalator to his base salary and by releasing Abraham, the Falcons will save $6.5 million in cash and $5.75 million in cap space, which could be used to pursue a (slightly) younger pass-rusher, such as Osi Umenyiora, a 31-year-old who lives in the Atlanta area in the offseason and will be an unrestricted free agent on March 12.

You might be right. I seem to remember him in some kind of headline last year, but it blew over quickly.

Turner is no surprise, but I was surprised they cut Abraham and Robinson. They must be counting on Grimes to be back at 100% next year.

Did you see Turner play last year??? He is DONE.

I saw him run on us. I wouldn't sign him to be a starter, just a guy that can come in and punish tacklers when demarco needs a rest. i believe he's also good in pass pro.

Even if he took vet minimum that's still more than what you'd have to pay if you were to draft a guy.
Turner is not needed in Dallas. Why waste time on a guy in the twilight of his career when you can likely draft someone just as good with a mid or late round pick and then look for them to develop into a better player?

Dunta signs with Chiefs
http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/n...-headlines?r=1
Quote:
Chiefs signed CB Dunta Robinson to a three-year contract.
And so it begins. One hour before the free agency frenzy kicks off with the opening of the legal tampering window, the Chiefs step in and grab Robinson who was released by the Falcons last Friday. Robinson was routinely beaten in coverage on the outside in Atlanta, but he's always been a sure tackler in the run game. Kansas City could be snatching him up to play nickel corner or even free safety next to Eric Berry. He was set to earn $8 million with the Falcons, but he shouldn't get much more than half that from the Chiefs. It shouldn't keep the active Chiefs out of the running for Sean Smith.

Abraham is getting a look from San Fran according to the link above.
That's just what they need. Another guy who can rush the passer.
