The parity in the NFL is far, far greater than you are implying, and we are right on the cusp.

I don't think the 10, 11 or 12 drafts were great by any stretch.
I hope lee, Bryant turn out to be all timers but they have not been that yet.
We need to nail this draft to compete this season.

Ouch! LOL
I don't think the word "pessimism" quite captures the mood entirely. "Anger" over the GM's lack of demonstrated ability should be in the mix as well.

If pessimism in cowboys fans (after this many years of mediocrity) is a sign of low self esteem.
Continually thinking this team is a few plays away or players away from a championship run is a fan equivalent of Psychosis.
They put their minds to creatively finding ways to tell us how good this team is even though the recent history says otherwise.

2010 and 2011 were fantastic drafts, and if you disagree, then you have wildly unfair expectations with regard to draft results. A "good" draft is where you can land three contributors, and from those two drafts alone, we landed Dez, Lee, Liss, Costa, Smith, Carter, Murray, Harris, Albright, and Bailey. I'm sorry, but you're just wrong with regard to your assessment of our 2010 and 2011 drafts.

Everyone has a mental image of what they envision a "Championship Caliber Team" to look like, it and usually resembles the 85 Bears, 89 49ers or 93 Cowboys. However, that's just not true in reality. The last two Superbowl winners were mediocre for wide extended stretches of the season, and down right awful for shorter stretches. You basically just got to get into the playoffs, squeaking in if need be, get hot at the right time and hopefully have a Rahim Moore whiff an easy INT or have Kyle Williams muff multiple punts along the way. Every fan should go into every season knowing that ultimately the odds are the season is going to end on a [View Full Quote]disappointing note. Just getting closer to the Championship doesn't ease the pain any, and in fact often makes it worse (see Rangers example above).
Also, if the only enjoyment you get out of sports is when your team wins Championships, you're going to be a very miserable fan because the odds are vastly against any team winning a Championship. I know Rangers fans who were catatonic for a week because they came one strike from winning the World Series, never mind the fact that 95% of the season provided them great enjoyment. Ultimately, I get enjoyment from following a team comes from following specific players on a path of progress (or lack thereof) and following the minutiae of day to day of a specific team, because just following the NFL at large and the ins and outs of 32 teams is too vast.

[View Full Quote]I live in florida so I watched the kiffin yrs, do y'all know who the free safety was? It was dexter jackson. Yes he won superbowl mvp honors...but he was average at best. So please stop freaking. Have faith please cowboys nation. I know theres alot that find it hard because u hate jerry the gm, romo the choker, garret vanilla play calling. I too feel the pain of coming short time and time again, but I don't think being pessimistic in the offseason unlike other teams fans they are most hopeful now because noone had won nor lost. We are fans and should have positive vibes for the team we love rain sleet or snow, I believe the worst is behind us.
I believe in our organization and all of u cowboys nation.

and I laugh at the idea that 2010 and 2011 were fantastic drafts.
2005 is the onlly one that you could reasonably call fantastic for the Boys since the early 90's.

Great assessment. Just some advice, when you actually explain your position, as opposed to just flinging 38k one-liners, your arguments tend to have more credibility.

Time will tell. I hope they are good.
But these guys have had all kinds of limiting factors.
Bryant has taken awhile to get to where he s and he is a constant risk of trouble.
Lee is great when healthy but has missed a significant amount of time.
Same with carter and Murray.
Bailey is great, lissemore is just a solid guy, costa is still somewhat if an unknown.
Smith has been the best of the bunch because he plays at a steady level each week and has payed injured. he us a cornerstone guy.
I love Harris he should be a terrific role player. Albright should be a versatile role player also, looking forward to watching him.
Great drafts should give u tons of production and tons of snaps. Outside of smith and bailey we have not got that yet from these two classes as a whole.
Lee and Bryant have super upsides and I hope they reach them.
