sorry Austin was never known as one of the best recievers in the league. he was and is a very good WR. one of the best. that's a stretch
and not every FA no name player will make it big time because they showed flash.

Gotta admit, I do hope Albright wins the job (I liked how he played last year, and a RKG) but if Wilber beats him out, then that says a good deal about his (Wilber's) abilities.

I can't say I'm pulling for 1 over the other. I agree Albright did some good things if somehow Wilber steps up and wins the job then that is a pretty good situation to be in knowing you have 2 quality player making the LB position a much better unit overall.

Agreed. Whoever can get the job done is ok by me. I don't care if it is one of those two, a draft pick or a UDRFA or FA.
Someone needs to step up and do the job.

I'd say Austin was considered a top 10 receiver after the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Maybe saying one of the best was a bit too much, but he was definitely a top 10 receiver during those two years.
And I'm not saying Albright will be a star, I'm simply saying give him a chance before writing him as a pratice squad member or a back-up. The guy has talent, evident by last year's performance during the latter part of the season, and I'd like to think he can capitalize on the momentum he built up and become a starter this upcoming season.

Yep that is all that matters. I will say I feel good about going into camp with Lee, Carter,Albright and Wilber. I may have missed it but what is the word on Ernie Sims returning

Another player we're all forgetting is Orie Lemon. He looked decent in a small sample size last season.

I agree. I know he is an exclusive rights FA and hopefully he will be in camp. Even if he can be a solid backup player these past couple of season should remind everyone how important backup roles are.

A little off topic but that is a big reason I would like to see a DT drafted early in the draft since the line requires a constant rotation. Role players are key.

it's funny how the cowboys try to develop their own guys, when they can't sign anybody in FA...

Hopefully it will be very competitive between the two.
I thought I had read a few weeks ago that Wilbur would be possibly playing back-up DE. Maybe they dive into FA for depth there?
|
I think Wilber is a better fit at SLB than DE, but I agree that he shouldn't be favored over Albright, who actually showed he could play linebacker decently last year.
