Valid concern. My dream scenario, is Jerry drafting Manizel next year. Think of the potential pr that would be for the state, and the potential of Johnny Football being a star in the NFL.

What a disaster that would be.

This is one case where I think he may have learned (slightly) from his experience of having nothing for about a 10 year stretch. Jerry has stated many times how lucky they were to get Romo; just as New England had serious nearly-blind luck landing Brady in the 6th.
Because JJ seems to recognize just how rare it is now, maybe he will appricate that when the time comes he has to step up and spend a 1st or 2nd rounder. The other decent alternative is to start drafting a later round QB every year in hope of hitting on one before Romo's days are over here.
I'd say do the latter and if it fails, don't hesitate to swing for the fences.

use a 5th or 6th rd pick on a QB every year; those level of picks usually do not produce anyway and if you get something you could trade him for other picks like the Pack has done.

I think there are too many holes to fill one at a time. What needs to happen is young dynamic QB needs re-energies the entire team and lead them in a way that hasn't happened since Aikman left. I would really hate to see this playout each year with Dallas finishing .500 and skins challenging in playoffs each year. Maybe its time for Jerry to have moment of clarity and alter horrific path this team is set on. You let Romo play out his contract and franchise for one more year if you need. But there absolutely should be movement to QB in draft rather soon.
Typical fair weather fan. Theres two ways to look at that. The Skins sold their soul for a guy who runs, gets hit and blows out his knee. He may never be the same, you don't know. THat's the second major surgery on that knee. So lets say he decides not to run anymore. Now he's lost that edge and he's a pocket passer. Plenty of guys have come and had great rookie seasons only to falter after. Cam Newton? Wait another season and lets see how great he is.

Like they say, wish in one hand and you know what in the other and see which one fills up first.

I was talking to my friend about next season and I would be hopeful, except for the fact we have a total nitwit as a coach. He knows how to design a play to get yards. But he doesn't know how to coach a team to get motivated, to score and he doesn't get the cause and effect of aspect of the game. Garrett is so far out of his league it isn't funny. Leaving him for a much better candidate is the only thing that can save this team, imo.

Ben, you really think the team looked unmotivated last year?

It worked out with the Broncos having the #1 offense in the league for two or three years. It was Denver's porous defenses that kept those teams from achieving...

To win? Yes.. for a great part of the season.

The positives I came up with are Dez emerging into the elite category, Harris really coming on, Carter and Lee were studs and we have a pretty solid secondary. So that's good. But it's all negated, to me, when you put Ronald McDonald into the picture.

I wouldn't say that. In fact, I think that ability to motivate is the primary reason why JG is still here.

I'm talking about real motivation... motivation to win and do what it takes to get the job done to win. Motivating himself into a successful game plan would factor into the motivation equation too. If you have a good offense, but fail to score enough points, something is wrong. I don't think Garrett has the mental resources to be an NFL coach. I'm not rooting against him, but it's a catch-22 for me. I want to be optimistic. We have a good group of players, OL aside and the guy just can't get it done.

To hell with nostalgia, I want a coach for my team.
