Plugging n vets for a year at a few positions might allow us to draft players for both lines for a change.
hopefully we address both lines often and heavy this upcoming draft. but hey, a 5th rounder on a qb couldn't hurt.

No it couldn't, unless a running back who can help this year or tight end s sitting there.

This team has two offseason worth of work to do.

No! why would Dallas create a depth problem at the most important position on the team? Rediculous!

Trent Dilfer: "Tony [Romo] has greatness in him. I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”

Alex Smith was/is in no way a FRANCHISE QB. SF knew that when they used 2ND ROUNDER for Kapernick. They drafted Kapernick to eventually replace Smith because Harbaugh did not like Smith. The injury gave Harbaugh the excuse he needed to speed up the process.

Dallas has to many holes elsewhere to waste a pick on a QB this year. Unless someone really drops (as in someone Dallas thinks has 2nd round talent falling to the 5th) its not gonna happen.

I dont see how we couldn't get something decent for orton. I know he could start somewhere. But knowing our luck we'd trade him and romo would go down. KNOCK ON WOOD. I LOVE ROMO! Hes a great qb!!!
2013 prediction: 7-9 / SB prediction Broncos beat seahawks.

They invested in 7 qbs since 1989.

1. Troy Aikman
2. Steve Walsh
3. Steve Beuerlein - trade involving a draft pick
4. Bill Musgrave
5. Quincy Carter
6. Drew Henson - trade involving 3rd round pick
7. Stephen McGee

I think Orton's best trade value would come when a teams franchise qb gets hurt for the season and a team is still in the playoffs. If they feel they can trade him the best bet is during the season when they can get more for him.

That's four from 1989-91, and three since then.

1. Troy Aikman 1989
2. Steve Walsh 1989
3. Steve Beuerlein 1991
4. Bill Musgrave 1991
5. Quincy Carter 2001

Kitna was an int machine... Orton was and is a much better player, especially as a backup, though your point is well taken.

Orton is making $1.35 Million this season. By contrast, Chase Daniel just got a 3-year $10 mil deal. Think we're doing OK with Orton.

OK wrong choice of words. By the same token we have invested in 16 TE's since 1989.

1. Keith Jennings
2. Rob Awalt - trade involving a draft pick
3. John Davis
4. Kendell Watkins
5. Eric Bjornson
6. David LaFleur
7. Rod Monroe
8. Mike Lucky
9. OJ Santiago -trade involving a draft pick
10. Bob Slowikowski
11. Jason Witten
12. Sean Ryan
13. Anthony Fasano
14. Martellus Bennett
15. John Phillips
16. James Hanna

Yeah. he's good value at that price and a season can get wrecked quickly if you don't have a capable backup QB.
