Would it shock anyone if the same starting five march out there for the first game of the season?
I wouldn't be surprised at all.

I'm half expecting it
Let Garrett call his own plays and not make a change on the O-line. That way when he gets fired, it is his own fault.

I wouldn't either..
I expect Costa to start at C, but compete with what's the guy name? Kevin somebody.
We've heard that Mack and Livings played with injuries... So good health and good offseason, they should go into the OTAs as starters.
Per this article, Free is a reclamation project.
Tyron is going nowhere..
So chances are good, they trot out the same five as last year, at least through training camp.

If this is what Jerry is planning, then they better have a top five defense!
Personally, though, I think they will add at least one new starter from the draft.

I don't think any OL drafted in the 3rd rd and below will be starting..unless there are injuries.
If they go OL in 1st, then I expect the guy to start. 2nd rd has a good chance, too, but I'm not as convinced about his starting chances.
Thing is, I don't think they go OL in the 1st. 2nd round is more likely.

I agree. I think they will go with d-line in the 1st unless there is a stud offensive tackle available at 18.

I am throwing a party the day he gets cut.

There are a couple reasons to cut him now if that's the plan. First if he gets hurt in OTAs they would be liable for his salary and second, having a "dead man walking" around the complex is never good for morale. I think they are trying to get a pay cut from him and using the leverage of FA being almost over before he is released in June.

I don't think that's the case. I think it would be foolish for Dallas to keep him on the roster at his current price, because he didn't prove worth it, but having him on the roster as a backup wouldn't bother me.

I expect it too. We'll bring in a few guys possibly some draft picks but the same starting 5 will more than likely be out there. Its hard to sell that to fans...I do think they will be better but i'm not sure that progress will prevent Romo from still getting killed.

Free will be gone by June of this year. There is a reason we didn't restructure him. And as far as I know, he hasn't been asked to take a pay cut yet either.
We are not going to trot out the same OL.
JJ/SJ has already said we're looking for a guy who can play OG/OC, either in FA or via the Draft.
Also, We are clearly bringing in draft picks like Warmack to VR in the next couple of weeks . . . .

If that happens, I will be convinced we are tanking the season to get Johnny football.

Exactly...Calvin Watkins is one of the worst Cowboys Insiders they have ever hired. He reports idiotic rumors that don't make sense and reports the obvious as if it's latebreaking news. I have no clue how he merged into ESPN. The guy sucks!
Why put out a report that a guy like Doug Free is safe for now just because the Cowboys have not released him in the first week of FA?
Doug Free's family and friends can probably could give Calvin a clue.
It is the worst kepy secret in football that you cannot lead the league in penalties, give up the most sacks and by the end of the year rotate plays with a guy who barely made the team. The gave him a chance this season when they switched him back to RT. Now the team can't trust him. Period.
Why does everyone know this but Calvin. And if does, why report something that may dispute what we all know to be the truth. Why?
