Default Tempted?

From GBNreport.com (http://www.gbnreport.com/nextlevelreports.html)

Former #2 overall first-round draft pick DARRELL RUSSELL has been reinstated by the NFL meaning that he is now free-and-clear to sign with any one of the 32 NFL teams... he was drafted second overarll by the Oakland Raiders in 1997, earning Pro Bowl appearances in 1998 and 1999.

He showed the ability to control the line of scrimmage and change the game from his defensive tackle spot thanks to his combination of size, speed, strength and power. "He's (Russell) is in better shape than most of the guys about to enter the draft... (I) have been impressed by his progress and work ethic", according to his trainer Derek Samuel of M.P.T.

Russell was recently timed at under 4.90 in the 40, while weighing in at 6'4", 345 pounds. "(I) would be grateful for any team that would give me another chance to prove myself... not only as a player but to maybe get back my name", explained Russell, who went on to say, "(I) think that I could still get back to contributing the way I did back in '98 and '99, but if it takes proving myself all over again that is what I would be willing to do".

Although it might seem to be a long time ago, Russell will actually turn only 29 years old in late May (5/27/76), so there is hope that he can still continue to turn his life around both on-and-off the field.

Please feel free to contact Darrell Russell or his agent for more information, as he is interested in setting up visits or possible workouts with any/all teams following the draft.

Not at all....

We're all giddy over signing good character guys and we're gonna go sign a headache like Darrell Russell. Isn't he the one called Shanahan "Little Man?"
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

Wow, I'd hope the Cowboys bring him in for a work-out. He was a stud in Oakland. I know of atleast one other poster (Hos) who would like to see the Cowboys take a look.

As tempted as I might be - and I always am when it comes to huge, athletic defensive linemen with Russell's talent - I would be surprised if the Cowboys are given the history with this kid.

On the flipside, he sounds like a very intelligent young man (listening to him speak) despite the problems he has brought upon himself. I hope to see him catch on somewhere and resume what once looked to be a promising career. The talent he possessed was utterly frightening.

I hope we at least bring him in for a workout. With Glover, Ferguson AND Russell, we'd have 3 great DTs.

If I am not mistaken, that would be Leigh Steinberg.

Jerry has a good relationship with Steinberg... he will probably give Jerry a call if he hasn't already...

He cetainly fits the mold of a massive slab of beef clogging the middle...and is athletic to boot. I would feel better have some size behind Fergi at NT

If he has indeed turned in around, I'd hope they give the guy a chance. It won't be the 1st or last time a player ressurected their career and DTs can play effectively into their early 30's. Russell is 29.

It's laughable when Cowboy fans try and use the "character" disqualifier. We've had a starting DT who has played on this team for 2 years after he pleaded guilty to burgarly, assault and kidnapping all in one case.

If he has anything left the Cowboys can find out by taking a looksee.
