Well if Scott shows improvement which I hope he does then he has a chance to make the team. I believe with hard work players can improve

Exactly.

I don't get this fascination with Keith Davis. Solid special teamer, has trouble dodging bullets, but that's about it.

Dixon was so pathetic in coverage that we could of put Cowboy Bob back there and it would of been a improvement.
Cowboy Bob's hat alone would have deflected 8 passes...heheheheheh

I'm not going to rag on Keith Davis but I think that since he did well in NFLE it raised expectations. That and our lack of options at FS have elevated the interest in the kid.

I think alot of false expectations are placed on Davis. This is the ReShard Lee syndrome all over again.

On the other hand, Scott has been a fan whipping boy for ages but he keeps on going. Funny how fan opinion means next to nothing in the overall scheme of things.

As long as we have players with Scott's talent level on the team, we will not be a serious playoff team. I know Bill knows this and would love to upgrade the talent at the position. Nothing personal to Lynn he's big on heart, short on talent.

Oops, you're right. I was thinking that the year he got cut was his first season. He played a tiny bit on defense in 2002, got cut in 2003, then played one play last season.

Finally found ONE reference to Davis having the inside track on the job.

From Yahoo Sports Dallas Rookie Mini Camp Info that came out two weeks ago:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...v=ap&type=lgns

"-- The search for Darren Woodson's replacement is going slowly.

Among returning players, Keith Davis appears to be the front-runner, with Lynn Scott and Steve Cargile in the mix. Pete Hunter, a former safety turned cornerback, is not a candidate. "

But if you read the article, it seems more like speculation on the part of the author than anything else. Reason being, there are BP quotes for pretty much every other point the article makes, but nothing in reference the FS spot being Davis's job to lose.

I guess I don't care who gets the job as long as they can perform the job to average capabilities.

BP said b4 the draft that he would prob go with Keith Davis right now he felt he had all the tools and talent to be a good FS in the NFL but he lacked EXP but he thought he would be able to do the job and it was basically his job to lose.

So why does everyone keep saying we want this guy at FS instead of Lynn Scott its not lynn scott its Keith Davis.

Now Myself I think we have enough talent in the DB spot to fill the FS from within I think Keith Davis or Ralphie "Peter" Hunter will do fine. IMO you can forget about Lynn Scott at FS and he may not even make the team.
Where have you been? Davis with a leg up? Pete Hunter? Ok.

Thanks for finding that but thats not the one I was refering to it was a TV interview right after we signed Rivera and the others. I've tried to Google and yahoo it but they don't go back that far on the searches for news and going through all the web pages is giving me a headache. I know what I heard. What you found gives it some credability thanks again. I remember he said it was Davis's job to lose. Davis had all the talent and only lacked Exp. he then said we would see. in his BP way he added no ones guarnteed though. and if a FS came available later in FA we would have a look.

Here almost every day it seems.... I know what I heard I don't go posting made up crap and usually provide links this time I'm not able to find one. Shoot me if you'd like but I think I have a decent record with my posts and that I should be given some latitude. Hustler did find one link that said Davis has the leg up on Scott and any other FS we currently have......

I believe Hunter is the safety during passing situations and the rookie on running situations.
I know Hunter dosent want anything to do with the position.
I still think its the way it will be and I believe that all in the Cowboys organization have already planned for this .Including Hunter.

True, BUT the article doesn't indicate that it is anything more than just speculation by the author.

Young man...no need for violence. I've just been one of the guys wanting Hunter to try the safety position or even a stab at WR. He may work out to be a good one. I just haven't read that anywhere. From my stand point your posts usually are factual. However, I won't believe it until I hear BP say so not a writer and his opinion.
