Default Boulware, any news?

I'd love to have him a Cowboy if we could afford it. Has anybody heard who he may be talking to?

Last I heard the Browns were showing some interest in him.

Here's some actual news on interested teams.

Peter Boulware: Seahawks Interested

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
Friday, May 13, 2005
Update: The Seahawks are reportedly one of the several teams interested in Boulware, who was released by the Ravens on Wednesday, the Seattle Times reports.

Recommendation: The team is still looking to bolster its pass rush, and the linebacker, who is the older brother of Seahawks safety Michael Boulware, is on their radar. The Bengals and Browns are among the other teams thought to be considering making a run at the four-time Pro Bowler.

This is from GBN:

Former BALTIMORE RAVENS All-Pro linebacker/defensive end PETER BOULWARE is said to be on the radar of several teams, including Dallas, Cleveland, Seattle, while Tampa Bay is also said to be reviewing the idea of adding him and using him at defensive end... keep an eye on New Orleans, who lost out on Chad Brown recently, although they now seem content on keeping defensive end Darren Howard now that they could not deal him at the draft... and have more pressing needs, as they must address long-term deals with running back Deuce McAllister, cornerback Mike McKenzie and center LeCharles Bentley.

I'd like to have him but only at the right price. I dont know how much he made in Bal. but I wouldn't break the bank for him. If we signed him, I hope we'd trade Dat, for a draft pick (3rd) or a FS.

um, Dat can easily fit the role of the smaller ILB in the 3-4, and in the 4-3 he is alos effective at "mike" backer. He aint going nowhere. Dude has been productive over the last couple of years like none other.

Yes, we do. How much experience to we have at LB? Especially LBs that have played or that CAN play in a 3-4?

I think it was Spags in his mail bag that said we aren't really interested because we don't want to take Burnett or Ware off the field.

I don't think we'd have to. Burnett is likely an ILB. And you need 2 OLBs to play a 3-4 (or a 4-3 for that matter).

And anything Mickey says is pretty much useless IMO. He's a moron. And I hope he's reading this.

Wouldn't that be fixed by moving Burnett inside in a 3-4, or are you saying Spags spilled the beans about us staying 4-3?

I definitely think we'll be a versatile Defense because we now have the personnel to do it. I think we'll start some games 4-3 and some 3-4. I've been saying all along that we will run different schemes based on situation and that all teasm do this already.

I suspect Game 1 will be a 4-3 because we'll want the added beef up front to stop LT. If that package is successful it might mean we run it a lot more. You tend to build on early success.

We're gonna keep guys fresh I think. All of the rookies and Free Agents we added plus some of the remaining guys will get breaks and playing time.

I hope this translates into constant energy and pressure for a tired offense to overcome.

We've both been harping on personnel for awhile, and if Canty can play we have much better depth on the DL than we do at LB.

I'd love to get a quality rotation going on the DL like we had in the 90's.

We've added more talent, but we are still at least one LB away from a quality 3-4.

this SO reminds me of the dallas defense of the 90s SB runs. wave after wave of fresh defenders working opponent O-lines into sagging exhaustion until they ultimately collapse.

now, if they can just accumulate the brutally huge and athletic corp of fatboys, on the O-line, to wear down the opponent defenses - we'll be making a run at the Patriots' apparent stranglehold on the title "team of the naughts".

Two words: Peter Boulware

And he's played in both systems so we'd still have the flexibility to play both fronts. His best season was in 2001 (15 sacks) and the Ravens ran a 4-3 that year.
