Default Cundiff...

Quote:
Doug Brien joined the Bears' kicking derby, prompting Paul Edinger to ask out. Edinger, a six-year veteran, was called in and told the Bears were signing Brien to join what the team has said will be an intense competition this summer. It's one Edinger no longer wants to be a part of as his agent officially sought his release before the day was out, saying Edinger and the Bears would be best served by fresh starts. Brien was released by the Jets on April 28.
-- Chicago Sun-Times

The addition of Brien would give Edinger four challengers. Nick Setta, who was in the Bears' training camp last summer, is kicking in NFL Europe, and after last month's draft the Bears signed undrafted rookies Tyler Jones from Boise State and Nick Novak from Maryland.
-- Chicago Tribune
I say if Edinger is released, we go after him.
It's time Cundiff had some real competition in camp.

We've suffered thru this kicking debacle for way too long....

Edinger has issues with his kickoff length and would cost more. I would pass.

I totally agree. I have not liked Cundiff ever. I think that we can do way better in the kicking department. I say the more competition the better. I really think Bryant would have won the job had he not been injured last year.

Looking at his stats he doesn't look much better than Cundiff, but I think that it is worth bringing him in as competition.

Yeah, but he blew out his knee expressing himself over the signing right there in the office. Which I understand is a natural grass surface.
AS: Cowboys ice their own kicker in 19-13 OT loss

“That is one of the luxuries of my position as owner as well as the ultimate decision maker, general manager and president – I can do that and take the losses and come back for more,” Jones said.

God help us...............

Indy may part ways with Mike Vanderjagt. If they do we should sign him before his suitcase is even in a bellhop's hands.

Now this I could see and be worth it. But I doubt it will happen so Heres to Billy. Remember he's only in his fourth season if he just improves his leg strength I think he will be fine. We gave up the lowest kick return average in the NFL. Under 40 hes money over 40 he's scary I admit. Competition is a good thing and if we find someone better get em. But don't settle on someone who isn't an improvement just because you dislike Billy.

Indy is cap strapped. Dungy has history with Martin Grammatica. Vanderjagt opens his mouth too much. Post June 1, I won't be at all shocked if Vandy is a FA.

I agree and he would be a great improvement and I would love the signing if he can keep his mouth shut. Which I think BP would make sure he did.

How many times has he shot his mouth off? I only remember one. Yes you do like your players to keep disputes out of the newspapers but, really, who listens to kickers anyway

I have a very strong feeling that Billy Cundiff will be sent packing before the season starts.
Afterall, he was a Hoffman find not a Parcells find and we all see where Hoffman is now.
