Default Top 5 Cowboy RB of ALL TIME

Only 4 backs in Cowboy history have ever rushed for over 1,000 yards in a season, they are all on this list.

1. Emmitt Smith - no brainer, All time NFL Leading rusher.
Career Avg Rush was 4.2 yards

2. Tony Dorsett - another no brainer, when he retired he was #2 on the all time list. He has since been surpassed by quite a few. Career Avg Rush was 4.3 Yards

3. Don Perkins - all time leading Cowboy rusher until Dorsett showed up. Don is the only back on the list who never rushed for 1,000 yards in a season but he also never rushed the ball more than 222 times in a season. His career Avg Rush was 4.1 yards.

4. Herschel Walker - short lived but was the best in league for about 1 year. Career Avg Rush was 4.2 yards

5. Calvin Hill - 1st Cowboy back to gain 1,000 yards and he did it twice just to prove it was NO FLUKE. Calvin escaped to the WFL in 1975 or he may have been higher on this list. Career Avg rush was 4.2

From the woulda, coulda, shoulda category we have Duane Thomas whose career Avg rush was higher than the 5 mentioned about at 4.5 yards per rush. Of course, he didn't stick around long enough to fulfill his greatness.

What about "Swirvin" Curvin Richards or Paul "Nestle Plunge" Palmer

1) Emmitt
2) TD
3) Hershel
4) Julius Jones

Never seen the older backs play so I cannot rank them.

The top two are easy,

1. Emmitt

2. TD

We have had a lot of solid backs,

3. Walker for being good, twice, and without the trade do we win any Super Bowls in the 90's?

4. Perkins

5. The log jam of Hill, Thomas, Newhouse, Reeves, Garrison, Springs, and Pearson.
